I am an experienced lacrosse player that has been on the field for about 8 years as well as an ex-sales representative at a large lacrosse retail store. I sold many items at this store including starting packages and sticks. This STX Stinger lacrosse stick is a quality complete stick at a decent price. It comes with a basic aluminum shaft that shouldn't break in a regulated game at the youth level, but in high school it would most likely break in a practice or game. The head is quality as well with it being more of a V shape allowing more room for the ball to enter when catching. This shape also allows the player to develop the concept and basics of cradling the stick without the ball bouncing out. This head is a tough plastic which wouldn't allow the head to bend too much which is important for ground balls (a crucial part of the game). At the top of the head, the plastic bar is more flat than U shaped. This allows more surface area for the ball to be scooped into the head while going for a ground ball. The mesh is a little bit soft which allows the ball to comfortably sit in the head as well as practice the concepts of throwing. Overall this is a quality head for a beginning player. Once the players experience gains, I highly suggest moving up to a more quality/more expensive stick.

My son is new to the game so I bought this one. He was afraid that it was cheap and he wouldn't have a stick like everyone else - but everyone else has sticks that look almost identical. I bought the Reebok black one, too, because it looks so cool and now I can use this one to practice with him. Overall, a very good investment and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one as your primary stick.

My son has used it during last season and all year at camps. It's not the best, but works well. As his skills improve I'll move him to a better stick.

Ok so I am a beginner in lacrosse. I bought this stick because of the soft mesh and wider head shape. Which makes it easier to catch and throw the ball. I use this stick more as a practice stick in my backyard. It has an aluminum silver and black shaft which looks sweet! The picture doesn't show how deep the mesh is but it is deep and soft. In the picture it says the mesh is blue on blue, but it is actually black on white. The packaging was ok just some paper in a box with the stick laid on top. But all and all this stick is an amazing stick for beginners to intermediate players. I strongly recommend this stick.

Apparently boys and girls have two different kinds of sticks. We bought this for my daughter and certainly looks like a great stick, but unfortunately, the coach won't allow her to use it.

Player/Coach recommended!
I coach 2-4 graders and run a clinic for K-1 and I played the game in my glory days. This is by far the best starter stick out there.

Pros:
The shaft is a tad shorter and the diameter a little thinner to help kids pick up stick skills a little easier. At this price point, you also don't feel bad cutting the shaft another couple inches.

The wide head makes ground balls a bit easier to learn.

The head is also very sturdy where most other "starter" sticks have terribly cheap, "floppy" heads.

Cons:
plain white and black.....would be nice to give the kids some options...you can always dress it up with some colored tape.

My own son used this for 3 seasons and still goes back to it on occasion.
I've also tossed around with it a good amount and it is a quality stick with an amazing price point. I would put it up against sticks that cost twice as much.
I recommend it all my new players. I get so disappointed when they go for some of the other brands cheaper models just b/c they look cool. They are inferior sticks to this one.

This stick is a great entry point for younger kids. I bought my then-four-year-old a mini stick to introduce him to throwing and catching, and he liked the idea but found the small head just too small to catch with. Now that he's six and can handle the size and weight of a larger stick, this is even better for him than my regular stick (which he kept wanting to trade for his mini stick...). His interest in throwing and catching has picked up quite a bit since he got this new stick, and he loves that it looks and feels similar to a regular stick.

I ordered this stick for my 8 year old grandson who will be starting Lacrosse in the spring. I chose this stick because it was recommended at the best starter stick by my older grandson who has been playing for several years. Since he hasn't started yet I cannot speak to it's performance except that my older grandson started with and was pleased with the same stick.
