Never purchased anything made by Sunwayfoto before. Mostly used Gitzo & RRS (Really Right Stuff). I definitely was impressed with the quality of construction on this unit as compared to its selling price. I felt it was fairly inexpensive compared to RRS, etc. so I was expecting the quality to lesser that it was. This was a nice surprise. It has the ability to pan left or right rather nicely but has no other tilt or vertical adjustments. Of course, I knew this ahead of time and was not an issue for me as I wanted this for a mono-pod. My only complaint would be that I don't like the way this locks up the clamp. Its just a knurled knob and if you bump it you can easily loosen it. I nearly had a Nikon D3 w/ 70-200mm f/2.8 drop off the mono-pod. Its not the end of the world, but I learned a valuable lesson. From now on, I will carry the unit always holding onto the lens foot and if it releases accidentally, the mono-pod will fall rather then the more expensive equipment. This would be a fantastic unit for a very stationary application indoors, or a more permanent set up on a tripod. But if you are doing anything active, wild life photography, fast action sports, etc. you may wish to go with something that locks up a little tighter and doesn't loosen as easily.

All pars fit together well with no noticeable play. Movement is smooth and well damped. It grips my camera securely in any position along the length of the jaw. The bubble level is very small and has a cross instead of a round target for the bubble, so it is pretty useless. The rotation clamp knob touches the shaft of the jaw clamp knob, but does not seem to cause any problems in practice. For vertical panos the rotation clamp knob takes quite a bit of torque to keep the camera from drifting.

I bought this as part of an optical center pivot panoramic setup. As something I use only occasionally, the cost is more palletable than the alternatives. I could imagine something better that may save more time on the one hand, but I could also imagine using a block of wood and a nail to do the same thing. It doesn't change the end result, it just makes it quicker to get. This head leaves little to be desired.

Speedy shipping with protective attractive packaging. The clamp itself will be used in panoramic photography with an attached bracket. The construction is beautiful. The rotation seems a little stiff despite loosening the locking knob, and may relate to the newness of the clamp. Perhaps it is heavily lubricated to enhance smoothness of motion. I am quite happy with this product.
