From the Author
Any author with children in his family, whether those children be his own, or whether they be his nieces and nephews, eventually finds himself faced with that momentous moment when those children, separately or in groups, realize that daddy and/or Uncle Bill, is a writer. Those kids with immediate expectations that what daddy or Uncle Bill writes just has to be something especially for them, little knowing that most of the writer-in-question's prolific literary output is hardly fit for kiddy consumption. At which point, the author, anyway this author, was forced to improvise. Thereby originating the episodic adventures of Kamehameha, Dog on a Surfboard, conjured especially for those tell-me-a-story-please sessions with kids who saw me as their own personal storyteller out to live up to their expectations for fill-in enjoyable moments at bedtime, and/or for just bonding before a raging fire on afternoons when the weather was too inclement for children of any age! to play outside. This book published especially at the request of those children, many of them grown now, with families of their own, who wanted hard-copy editions of the Dog on a Surfboard story they "so fondly remember", not only by way of keepsake but in order to read to their own kids when I'm not around. Of course, the book has, likewise, been put down permanently on paper for my dear Mum who for so long has been asking me to write a book that won't leave her blushing.
