Now, I don't have a problem with the characters all being animated in low-res, nor do have a big gripe with the completely bland & generic background music. What I DO have a quarrel with, is the completely broken gameplay & unbalanced character roster.

The character roster is one of the most marred to date for any vs series (no Zangief, Morrigan, Blanka, Yuri, no Rival School characters, no Last Blade characters, etc.) & having two different types of Ken, Mr. Karate, Akuma, & Iori don't really count as variety within the character roster. Shin Akuma & Shin Mr. Karate (of all characters) have infinite supers. This results in these types of characters being heavily abused online by noobs. Also, there is no rematch option online, & the ranking system is broken (at times if you defeat an opponent online, that opponent can acquire your win/points).

Don't think for a minute, that by placing the difficulty level on the hardest setting will give you a challenge against the computer in arcade mode. All the computer does is turtle you, shooting projectiles & spamming the same moves over & over. The hit collision is very poorly executed, with punches & kicks going right through characters (supers as well). There is even some lag-input inbetween supers at times. Also, grapples/throws which miss, result in one's power/super meter slightly decreasing (for each throw missed).

What really kills this game is how obsolete the Capcom characters feel. Characters such as Guile & Bison have had their charged-based moves/proportions adjusted drastically, making them practically useless to play as.

It's pretty neat how the characters have dialogue throughout the arcade mode. The gallery section's also a nice touch (though, unlocking each character pic via survivor mode, can be quite tedious) as well as the replay mode (which appears to have been completely stripped from CVS2 EO) which allows one to save an indefinite amount of replays to the xbox's hard drive.

All in all, this game would have been alright it were to have been released back in the mid 90s', but with it's unbalanced roster (& limited modes of play) this game's not guaranteed to hold one's interest for very long. Best wishes on seeing this one make it to a tourney.

A++ TO SNK...!!!!!

SNK Vs Capcom: Chaos Live, is a game you can enjoy as long as you don't have anything to do. The reason for thia is, your going to be spending at least 1 hour a day, try to press the right directional button for Ryu's "Shuruken" or whatever it is, or trying to beat the frustrating AI on beggining difficulty, which is as if not harder than the very hard difficulty on DOA 3. But if you can get real good at one character (Mine is Kasumi, daughter of Todo from the Art of Fighting series, which are better games.) then you may actually have fun. Yes, if they tone down the difficulty, add more characters, and actually add a plot, then this game could be a hit. But it isn't, so 3 stars it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Think before you buy....., June 3, 2006

Oi, I saw how some of these reviews trash this game. I thought oh look it's either people who hate snk games or kids that grew up with playstation 1 not atari's and nintendo's. But, nope this game is really really dissapointing. It doesn't have to be because it's old. Other old arcade translations to consules are great and are still fun. The game seems to have slow sluggish responses. It's like it's missing some frame's. The computer no matter what level you play does the same junk over and over. Does fireballs and whatever uppercut move it has over and over. Controls are rather off too.... On the plus game matches load fast and graphics look decent for how old of a game this be. As for the Capcom vs Snk it's really questionable. It's more or less a few street fighter charcater and a few samurai and fatel fury. Not much of a true versus game. If it was a true versus game there'd been some Final Fight characters more Dark Stalkers, mabye mega man ect ect... As for the snk half boy weak weak some of the least exicting character from their half. Snk has ton's of interesting characters.... I'd recommend if you only own an xbox like me to pick up Samurai Showdown and Street Fighter II Collection vs this uninspiring game. The best part of this game was finally finding it at a local game stop after that the fun left the building....

This game was so bad, and left so much to be desired, that I, someone who never writes reviews, was compelled to write one, just to keep other people from buying it, and ultimately further rewarding an extremely subpar release. The game play is horrible. The graphics are sloppy. The animation is unfathomably choppy (the frames per second are very very low, maybe they could've gotten away with this 10 years ago on Nintendo version 1 or something). If you're expecting anything like arcade gameplay, look elsewhere. This was something that was dished out to the public to make a few bucks, and not much more. Quality and effort just weren't put into this game.

Blah, wasted money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Chaos for the game of people playing it?, December 11, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: SVC Chaos - SNK vs Capcom (Video Game)
The idea of bringing two classic fighting games: Capcom's heavy hitting Street Fighter with the popular SNK King of Fighter's series. Capcom did it beautifully with Capcom Vs SNK series, as character flowed smoothly and the 3D backgrounds were simply gorgeous. One would hope that when SNK did their version of the game, they would try to take some advice from Capcom or Emeril for the matter and "kick it up a notch." Unfortunately, the game does not do so.

Granted, SNK has never been one to boast graphic but overall gameplay. Neither the mediocre graphics that a Sega Saturn game could easily surpass or the fast gameplay can save this game from it's dead on arrival demise.

While the graphics can be overlooked, the imbalance of characters makes this game overall frustrating, as you throw the game across the room faster than Ryu can throw a fireball. Ryu and Ken are typically the best characters in the game since they are the easiest to control. However, cheapness runs throughout the game, especially throughout the likes of Mr. Karate and his cheap fireballs. Even with the secret characters of Zero from the Megaman series, Dmitri from Dalkstalkers, and Violent Ken (where did he come from by the way?!), they don't even add anything to this bargain bin game.

The overall verdict? Save your money and get Capcom Vs SNK 2. The graphics are better, the gameplay is faster and it's an overall better experience.

I felt it didn't do a justice to the hardware in the XBOX. The graphics looked really dated, gameplay had really aged.

So I sit here playing my xbox and I glance at the SVC:Chaos game box and I wonder, "why did I buy that game??" Ladies and Gentle men this will be a very short review, this game is GARBAGE!! I am a long standing 2d game fan and SNK is almost the lone survivor of the 2d age. So it saddens me when they release a game like this which is such an obvious rushed and uncared for release just to satisfy contractual demands they had with Capcom. LOW RES graphics and I mean sub par neo geo graphics....sound is even worse.Skip it...buy Capcom vs Snk: EO 2...muuucchh better better everything... SNK really dropped the ball...after playing Guilty Gear this game jus would not cut it

This review is from: SVC Chaos - SNK vs Capcom (Video Game)
I WOULDN'T SAY FIGHTING GAME OF THE YEAR BUT 100% BETTER THAN CAPCOM'S FIGHTING EVOLUTION. NOWHERE NEAR BETTER THAN CAPCOM VS SNK 2 BECAUSE SNK GRAPHICS ARE CRAPPY,NOT INNOVATIVE, AND LOOK THE SAME EVERY FIGHTING GAME. THE GAME HAS SOME OPTIONS AND CHARACTERS THAT MAKES IT WORTH RENTING AND MAYBE BUYING BUT I ADMIT,SNK ALWAYS HAD MORE FIGHTING GAMES AND INNOVATIVE CHARACTERS BUT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'VE GOT THE POTETIAL ON BEING BETTER!
