The adage that you get what you pay for is more than applicable to the SVP T500 full HD mini video recorder.

The finish quality is cheap and below average, the control buttons are difficult to use and feel flimsy, the unit is fitted with small lights which are only good for running the battery down. Quality of playback on a PC and on a HD TV is comparable with a 1990's taped recording on a CRT television, not brilliant. The supplied software is not Mac compatible

On the plus side the battery life is good, it comes with it's own mini tripod which is useful, the screen is clear and viewable in moderate sunlight, storage is on card and therefore limited only by the cards that you have available and it has a 20X zoom range some of which is digital.

This purchase was made for a specific purpose and for which it is suitable, the decision to purchase the SVP was made on the basis that if it was as good as the specification indicated that it would be a bonus and the family could use it it does not, however, inspire them at all.

If I were to repeat the purchase this model would not be on my list and I would definitely opt for something else
