Terrorism. Hostage rescue. Dangerous pursuits. Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) teams are in the frontlines of America's war on terror and crime. To become a member of these elite squads requires determination, courage, and top physical conditioning.

Carrying wounded hostages, breaking down barricades, and rappelling down the sides of skyscrapers are just some of the demanding tasks faced by SWAT teams. The job requires incredible agility, speed, strength and endurance. For SWAT candidates there is a specially designed, six-week program utilizing calisthenics, weights, and speed drills. For current SWAT members, there is a twelve-week program designed to keep physical performance levels at their highest.

I've bought other books that emphasize workouts for law enforcement personnel but this one is the best I've found. I've just started the workout plan so I can't give testimony of results but I can say that it helped me get over a plateau and ramp up my routines.

I would also like to say thanks to the author. I e-mailed a couple of specific training questions to Stew and he replied right away. I really didn't expect that.

Like all of Stew Smith's programs this one is brutally effective. The workouts are set up in such a way that they are user friendly, no matter if you are a couch potato or an experianced SWAT operator there is a progression (and maintenance) you can use in this program. The exercises are explained and demonstrated perfectly. The workouts are laid out in a common sense progression. I have used several of Mr Smith's workouts in the past with great results and look forward to jumping into this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent motivational book for law enforcement officers, June 7, 2006
This review is from: The SWAT Workout: The Elite Exercise Plan Inspired by the Officers of Special Weapons and Tactics Teams (Paperback)
I am a police officer and hoping to become a SWAT officer in about a year. This book is really motivating and also gives some great workouts applicable to the type of fitness tests utilized by police departments. Stew smith has really done an excellent job by compiling all this information into one book.
