5.0 out of 5 stars it's about hope, and support, and unity April 8, 2011
By Emma
Format:MP3 Music
Something like this album doesn't come around every day. Combining such an energetic event such as the South by Southwest festival and something so devastating as the earthquakes, tsunami, and the nuclear crisis in Japan isn't something that is usually connected, but the outcome of the rapid-fire creation of SXSW4Japan, a 24 hour long music movement to show support, caring, and hope to all of those affected by the massive disaster that is still unfolding is this 47 track album.

The idea was simple enough: the musicians, loving their craft, the energy, and the idea of the SXSW festival were all there for one reason, a love of music, and the desire to share their love to anyone who was willing to listen. And in less than 24 hours, SXSW4Japan was built up, pieced together by some very inventive, creative, hopeful, and generous individuals, and $124,378 was raised to show our solidarity and our support for those in need of our assistance.

Come to this album because you love one or more of the bands, or you heard about it from a friend. Buy it to support the still very immediate need of support and assistance for Japan. Show your concern, your hope, for the future of everyone affected. Be part of the change that they need to move past this disaster, and become stronger for it. We're all only human, can't we share it with everyone else, especially those who are most in need?

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile Cause July 13, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
This is a great compilation album that spans across many genres. The best part is that the money goes to Japan to help them in rebuilding their lives and land. Even if the media outlets aren't saturated with up-to-date clips and pics doesn't mean that they are back to normal over there. Anyhoo, I applaud any effort that gets people to donate money by means of buying something they'd already want. So, buy the music you love and know that the proceeds are going to help someone just like you =)

3.0 out of 5 stars For Japan July 7, 2011

Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I admit I hadn't listened to all of the songs only by few select artists Michelle Branch, Hanson etc. I just bought it because the proceeds went to Japan and truly amazed how many musicians came together .
