5.0 out of 5 stars Quietly effective
I ordered this product when it had no reviews, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Boy, was I happy when I received this grinder. It is probably only half as loud as my former Cuisanart Burr Grinder. It is also heavy, and not at all flimsy, and has a cord wind space at the bottom. The push button is included in the top so no accidental use when removing ground coffee. We...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacks Grinding Ability for Spices
We have been using this product for about a month. It really lacks the grinding ability necessary to grind spices quickly -- it has plenty of speed it appears the double blade simply does not have enough surface area to do the job quickly -- A typical spice mix with the bowl 1/4 full takes 5-10 minutes to grind to an adequate level. Our spice mixes vary but frequently...

We prefer a finer grind to our coffee so this is a very effective machine for us. We also go with coffee manufacturer recommendations of more grounds per cup to avoid bitterness, than most people typically use. It supplies the exact amount we use, beautifully, with our preferred grind. For us, it it about a 20-25 second grind cycle, but we haven't experienced any heating of grounds, or off tastes, as a result. The only thing which may concern some, is there is often a round of ground coffee under the blade. This doesn't bother us, and is easy to dump or losen with a finger or brush, without touching the blade. Husband is so impressed he wants another for nuts and spices, and I want another "just in case." Extremely pleased.

I have had several grinders over the years and this one is one of my favorites.
It is relatively small and quite, and also looks great.
It grinds nicely and work perfectly in conjunction with my press. Grinding right before using a press is a simple and
probably the best way to brew a great cup of coffee.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple fix for the Wobble, April 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Saachi SA-1440 - Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder / Dry Spice Grinder - A Very Popular Model for All Your Grinding Needs
Just got this Saachi today. It does a nice job with coffee beans (and
I challenge the Internet coffee connoisseurs to a taste test between
coffee from burr-ground beans vs. blade-ground beans).
I was puzzled that the whole unit wobbles, on all
surfaces. But I saw that it stands on 4 little rubber feet. I simply
removed the feet, and now it sits flat on the surface--much better.
In theory, this will make it noisier, because the sound will get transmitted
to the countertop more, without the rubber buffer. But it's pretty quiet
anyway, so that's a non-issue.

I ordered this product because I wanted something to grind a fair amount of black pepper without having to hand crank small amounts at a time. This grinder works great and looks wonderful as well. Very well constructed, nice weight to it, looks great and not as obnoxiously loud as my old coffee grinder! Nice product and well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everyday Grind for better Coffee, March 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Saachi SA-1440 - Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder / Dry Spice Grinder - A Very Popular Model for All Your Grinding Needs
This coffee grinder is the best I have found thus far for the money. It creates as fine a grind as you like so that you can do expresso beans. It has a large motor that shouln't wear out for a long time. The only things that could be improved would be a better way to get the final grind out. The manufacturer suggests using a small spatula, but I haven't found one in my existing "kitchen stuff" so I use my index finger to losen the powder from the walls of the grinder. However, you have to be extremely careful as not to rub against the blade of the grinder as you have the potential of cutting your finger pretty badly if you are nonchalant about doing this. The only other comment I have is the instructions tell you not to fill the grinder above the max fill line. That line is not visually shown in the instructions. It is also not labelled on the machine,I have therefore assumed tha the line is where the stainless steel ends and the plastic begins. When I fill it to the top of the stainless well I get (6)six cups of strong coffee. If you drink your coffee medium or light you can get 8 to 10 cups per grind. The grinder has worked great. I have given it 4 stars because of having to use my finger to get the coffee out of the grinder. Great ground coffee for you bean users and my bean is Dunkin.
Enjoy.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Grinder, March 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Saachi SA-1440 - Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder / Dry Spice Grinder - A Very Popular Model for All Your Grinding Needs
This is a great little grinder. I bought it to grind flax seed but thought I would try a few more things. Grinds Kamut, Hard White Wheat and Quinoa and I'm sure I'll try more grains in the future. I wouldn't use it to grind large amounts but it works great if you want to add a half cup or so of these flours to your recipes.

4.0 out of 5 stars the silent performer, September 27, 2011

This review is from: Saachi SA-1440 - Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder / Dry Spice Grinder - A Very Popular Model for All Your Grinding Needs
Just got this spice grinder a few weeks ago and have used it several times for grinding spices for Indian dishes. My other spice grinders either burnt out their motor or the plastic cap started chipping). So far so good. The grinding is not completely uniform and fine, but it is comparable to what I get with other spice grinders (and I have tried my share of spice grinders) and completely adequate for my purposes. It is much quieter than other models and I'm digging its sleak design. All in all a good spice grinder for this price range. I would recommend it. I would have given it 4.5 stars but it only allows whole integers of stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grinder for Spices and (no doubt) Coffee, November 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Saachi SA-1440 - Stainless Steel Coffee Grinder / Dry Spice Grinder - A Very Popular Model for All Your Grinding Needs
I recently purchased the Saachi SA-1440 grinder for hard spice grinding and, after just one use, am back to order another for grinding coffee beans for our French press and coffee brewing. It is so fine! The machine is delightfully quiet and has a very solid and stable feel in the hand or on the counter. For spice grinding I tested it on the two most difficult tasks I could think of: canela cinnamon stick only snapped in half and whole star anise. These were both reduced to a fine powder in 30 seconds or less with no sweat--no strain at all on the motor. After that it was obvious that coffee beans, which are much softer, will be easy work for the Saachi. It is also very helpful that the clear top allows you to watch the grind. This lets you stop grinding at the exact desired degree of coarseness. Also, the on-off switch is perfectly placed and intuitive for grinding both in hand and on the counter. Also, it stops fast, which makes pulsing easy. All in all, a great little grinding machine, and a bargain at the price. Easy grinder to recommend. One note: if you don't have a small brush for sweeping out the last bits be sure to buy one: you'll need it.
