The album "Saavedra" by Maria Isabel Saavedra is a gem. People for whom I have played it but who don't know Spanish have had to buy it because it sounds so good with her very-easy-to-listen-to and expressive contralto voice and the similarly expressive and varied arrangements of Caribbean-style music. It gets even better when you understand the poetic lyrics that paint pictures and tell stories.

She has explained that the songs "are mine for me and no one else. They have my personal stamp." And, "I would like to break some myths ... I would like to show that women can write; we can feel attractive, we can think and say important things and [we can] change the course of a country." With this album, she has shown that she has what it takes to do this.

I don't know how the timing and the selecting of the Latin Grammys or of the Grammys works, but this new album deserves recognition as a best album and best songwriting beyond the Latin/Spanish market. Listen to the samples online. If you like how they sound, you won't be disappointed with the album.

Una excelente voz ..aunque opino q en su lugar .respetando su categoria de cantautora ..interpretaria baladas mas de acuerdo a su registro vocal .Creo q es una privilejiada y su gran voz se presta para incursionar en otros generos como .Baladas ,Boleros ,Jazz ect...en vez de encasillarse en su faceta de cantautora..

She is a Colombian Singer and writer,she makes mature, modern, almost surrealistic lyrics.Each and every single song in this album is absolutely wonderful, all of them are really good, Powerful voice,Great lyrics almost like modern poetry,Authentic Music, Really hard to choose just one because all the songs are great but my favorite song in this album is "De eso se trata"

No Need to speak or understand Spainish. You can feel the passion and perfection of this CD, I was so surprized after working on Location and hearing her sing why is this CD, NOT NUMBER 1. Highly suggest to add to your collection.
