Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Valley of Pharaohs is a rousing archaeological adventure that has players racing to be first to excavate the Scepter of Amun-Ra. Players become archaeologists, searching for hidden scarab tiles, in an effort to unearth the sacred Scepter. Find safety in an oasis or risk peril by spinning the dreaded Wheel of Fate. But beware the Mummy, who has come to life wandering the board. The mummy is always dangerous, falling in and out of your control. This game is played on a wonderfully illustrated cloth map of ancient Egypt with cast-metal playing pieces, each one a different-colored caravan camel. This Bookshelf Edition comes packaged in an antiqued wooden book, making it a stylish decor piece as well as a fun game.

Due to my husband's love of Egyptian articfacts and history, I purchased this as a gift. We played it over the Christmas holiday and it was fun, educational, and an extremely well made game with high class box and playing pieces.

My family really enjoyed this game. Our favorite game is Dread Pirate made by the same folks and we thought we'd give this game a go. It was a lot of fun and worth the money. Dread Pirate is still the best board game we own.

We just got this game for Christmas. Like our other "Front Porch" game, Dread Pirate, it comes in a fine wooden case, well painted and sturdy. The pieces and parts are quality made; From the glass jewels and metal coins, to the carved playing pieces and cloth game board, everything enhances the playing experience. I happened to get both games at discount, but even at full price they would be well worth it. Play is easy, but fun and engaging and makes for good family entertainment and (gasp) interactivity.
I would recommend (and have) both of these games to friends.

This is an exceptionally high quality game, with well designed and well manufactured pieces. The game is exciting to play, changes every time, and creates a great sense of adventure. It is a quality game for an after dinner party, as the quality and unique nature also make it a great conversation piece. I would highly recommend this game to anyone.

We played this game at a friends house. enjoyed it so much we decided to buy it.
This is a social game. It needs a family (or families) Not for little kids to play alone. There's not a lot of strategy or thinking in it (its not chess!) Its starts a bit slow, which is good as the instructions are a bit difficult to figure out, but once you find out what to do, it can be fun. I especially like the way the game is set up so that at the end, the person in the lead is not necessarily the winner. Think of a pack of hyenas descending on a lone wolf with the meat! Enjoy!
