I had such fond memories of this toy. I remember my Mom using ours on our front porch. My friends and I were all lined up with dixie cups and we all got a Snoopy sno-cone dessert. My Mom used it a few times after that, and then I never saw it again. I now know why!!!!

As a parent, you find out why your parents said "no" when you asked for things, etc. This Snoopy sno-cone maker was one of those things you need to experience yourself to find out why your parents always said "not now, maybe later".

I will say this, this definitely looks like the sno-cone maker we had. The plastic isn't as thick as the original, but everything looks the same. It's all there, the mini shovel, the Peanuts characters awaiting the shaved ice to come out..... well...

I was so excited when I found this today, I bought it for myself really. My daughter didn't seem excited until she figured out what it was all about. But boy oh boy, what hard work!!! It takes a lot of churning of one ice cube, and it just takes forever to get some sno to come out. It's a real bummer. Luckily I was only making this for my older daughter or I would have had one angry crowd. My arms were killing me and I barely made a serving. I did find as the ice cubes started to melt a little that it worked better, but it was just so hard to keep churning. I might never use this toy again. My Mom's advice was to freeze the juice/kool-aid in the ice cube trays instead of plain ice, she remembers that working more easily. I did try it, and it does. Still, a lot of work.

That being said, yes it's just a toy, so I am actually looking into getting an electric sno cone maker because the results of the Snoopy one are delicious, but tiring.

After 15 minutes of knuckle-busting fun trying to shave ice faster than it melts; you realize you not only have shaved ice but the added bonus of shredded red plastic mixed right in! (Wonder if that is for flavor or texture?)

Luckily, we noticed it before the kids ate it.

Buy a blender and put some Snoopy stickers on it and have fun enjoying a real sno-cone with the kids.

I agree with the reveiw that says this toy is for nostalgia purposes only. This is the Snoopy snow cone maker we had as kids ourselves, so it's fun to see our kids now playing with it. BUT, it's really difficult to use - you need major muscle power to grind the ice into "snow." The plastic this toy is made of is super thin, so you constantly feel like the thing is going to break, especially given all the pressure you have to exert to get the snow to come out. Overall, this toy was fun to use once, but I doubt we'll be pulling it out of the closet too often.

I to was soooo excited when I saw this. My kids thought I was nuts but I HAD to buy it lol. I explained how I had one and what fun it was. Got home and tried to make a sno-cone. The handle kept popping off and I got maybe a tablespoon of sno after a TON of cranking. The culprit? Well from looking it over in the name of safety there is a TON of plastic guards on the wheel thing and they seem to have dulled the wheel blades and made the shaves a lot shallower. Sure safer but now it doesn't work. Sometimes this PC make everything super safe stuff is really annoying. what ever happened to good old parent supervision?

I had this when I was little, but I think they've changed it a bit!

I'm obviously stronger than when I was a little child, but I think they made the blades on this one duller. You have to crank what seems like forever just to get a little "snow" out. By the time you have enough to shovel out, the bottom has already melted. I could not get a single one done, even after 15 minutes of cranking. All four kids (my kids had two playmates over) were quite disappointed, because all they got was a spoonful each.

My arm was sore for a whole day after, just from getting four kids a spoonful.

I don't remember it being this difficult when I was a kid. I remember making my own snowcones without much problem. I think since then, they've dulled the blades, perhaps out of safety concerns. I'm all for safety, but whatever they did, it renders the machine useless.

What a joke. Thoroughly poorly designed and made. Shaving mechanism consists of a flimsy plastic drum with sheets of dull steel riveted onto it, connects via a flimsy plastic ring to a flimsy plastic crank. It is frustrating for an adult to try to shave ice, let alone a child. For the same amount of money, one could buy a real electric ice shaving machine. The included "flavor packet" is powder that you must mix with sugar and water to make the syrup. Absolutely pointless.

I had one of these when I was a kid. I found one at a yard sale for 4 bucks and I begged my mom to lend me an advance on my allowance to buy it! What a bargain! Sure, it took 20 minutes to grind out one snow cone, the flavoring was basically Kool-Aid mix and one of my arms was noticeably bigger than the other by the end of the summer but what did I care, while other those other chumps were spending their allowance chasing the ice cream truck in the hot sun, I was making my own frosty treats. for free. whenever I wanted...

Which was why I was shocked when my then boyfriend (now husband) told he never had one as a kid! What, blasphemy! I immediately ordered one for him. We had to wait a full week (this was the archaic days of Amazon when you had to wait longer than 10 minutes for an order to be delivered) and when it arrived we blissfully spent the next 45 minutes shaving about 4 ice cubes and staining our countertops. It was the only time we used it and it now sits in a place of honor in our china cabinet.

This is a toy strictly for the 25 and over set. Today's kids don't have the patience of the core strength needed to operate this machine. It's also ( let's face it.) a terribly out dated toy, but don't tell Michelle from 1987 that...
