5.0 out of 5 stars A Change Has Already Came, June 30, 2005
This review is from: Sabacolypse: A Change Gon Come (Audio CD)
In my opinion, this is best album without a doubt that Necro has produced on his label Psycho+Logical along with, Goretex, Ill Bill, Mr. Hyde, Q-Unique and along with hiimself. Sabac spent the most time and effort on this album and you can tell. Almost every song on his album is perfect, sick beats and rhymes. People say that Sabac is a struggling Lyricist out of Nonphixion, but after hearing this album I thought he has improved the most, and in my opinion is the best mc out of Nonphixion. One of the best albums released out of 2004 and 2005 year. I recommend this album if you like Nonphixion, Necro, Mr.Hyde, the Arsonists, and Immortal Technique.

4.0 out of 5 stars Politically and Lyrically Charged, August 3, 2004

This review is from: Sabacolypse: A Change Gon Come (Audio CD)
Let's get the obvious out of the way;
1) Necro definitely has amazing beats
2) Sabac can rhyme AND flow
3) This IS the year for psycho+logical records

With that being said, I don't think I really need to justify the 4 stars I gave this album, HOWEVER, the following nit-picking I make is just because i expect so much from the Non-Phixion/Uncle Howie/Psycho+Logical camp. For one, while the interludes (the three spoken words, "Freestyle Freedom", and "Sabac's Anthem) do flow with the album, and have points, they lack replay value (with the exception of one of the spoken word interludes). And, to be honest, Necro's bass playing on "Freestyle" completely overshadows whatever deepness Sabac is trying to display and his well-intentioned slam poem comes off completely amtuerish (come on, fellas, do another take). Also, the needless singing on one of the album's finest tracks (Positive Vs. Negative featuring Necro) is almost ruined by the off-key riffing on the outro. There are too many guest appearances (which is a shame, because as Sabac proves on "Organize", "Speak Militant", and "Sabacolypse" he can truly go for delf), as there are only about six tracks on this lp where there are no features. Also, the beat to "Protest Music" with it's terrible interpolation of the Bob Marley classic "Git Up, Stand Up" sounds unmixed and almost desolate compared with Necro's more musical arrangements (peep "I Have A Dream" complete with sweeping piano rolls and MLK JR. sample for proof).

Anyway, the chest thumping "Urban Guerillas" with Q-Unique and the ever-improving Vinnie Paz bangs like youngs g's in compton, "P.O.W.S" proves how well Psycho+Logical posse cuts work (and proving that Mr. Hyde can indeed stick to a concept if need be, furthering the buzz for his forthcoming album), "The Mad Scientist" is thought provoking as well as appalling, and Sabac shows off his lyrical prowess and dedication for bringing Hip-Hop to a higher standard in 2004. This album truly kicks ass, and I DO suggest you buy it, perhaps with time I'll let go of the small flaws on this album and recognize it as a classic. Mad props to Sabac, and all of Non-Phixion...

Don't sleep...

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT superiority and surplus from psycho+logical, February 8, 2005
By
Bars (Copenhagen Denmark) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sabacolypse: A Change Gon Come (Audio CD)
In these times, Necro, Non Phixion and the psycho+logical- team has released alot of albums. "What's Wrong With Bill?", "The Art Of Dying" and "Sabacolypse: A Change Gon' Come" are the debut releases from the Non Phixion MC's Ill Bill, Goretex and Sabac Red. Mr. Hyde of psycho+logical has also released his debut album, "Barn Of The Naked Dead", and according to rumors, he is already working on a new album. Necro has also released "Pre-fix For Death", so, it's about 5 releases from the psycho+logical team, all of the albums are intirely produced by Necro, exept "What's Wrong With Bill?", and I was wondering, if one man could produce so many songs in so short time, how good could the result then turn out to be?- and honestly, I don't really understand how Necro has managed to do it, but all the albums are great with solid productions.

My favorite of these releases must be "Sabacolypse: A Change Gon' Come", because I think that Sabac Red is a more talented lyricalist than the other guys, and when that is said; Ill Bill and Goretex are deffinatly dope singers.
the album is filled with dope productions, both new and familiar guest singers and alot of thoughtfull lyrics.

"Organize", "Sabacolypse", "Bac's Anthem", "Fight Until The End" & "I Have A Dream" are all amazing songs, when I first read the back of the disccover, I didn't "believe" that Immortal Technique actually appeared on a song, but he does (!!!) and his part of "Fight Until The End" is nothing but suplime. and the jamaican chorus by Roosevelt Phillip (who he?) makes the song even more perfect. "Fight Until The End" must be my favorite track, else it would be "I Have A Dream" with Dash Mihok & Cenophia Mitchell, which is a very beautiful sang. Sabacolypse is also great, with a very nice guitar riff playing over a very recoqnicable Necro drumbeat.
As Sabac Claims on the Green DVD, he likes to bring the political aspects to his songs, and that is.....well... TRUE! easily said.

I would highly recommend you to buy "Sabacolypse: A Change Gon' Come", you don't have to be a great fan of Non Phixion or Brooklyn underground rap, I think that everyone will like this cd, at least, just try to pick it up, and if you don't like it, you have givin money to a man that deserves it, he has a lot of messages to mankind, and as it says in the booklet:
"STAND FOR SOMETHING, OR FALL FOR ANYTHING"
