5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Pair!
I gave this as a gift to my mom, and she has nothing but great things to say about it. Between the both of us, we've bought about a half dozen kitchen-type shears, and this one ranks high (and my mom's quite picky). She says the grip is very comfortable and that cutting with it even thru chicken bones/tougher tendons is a breeze, plus they don't feel like they're going...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Durable, Low End Sabatier
As part of purchasing multiple Sabatier knife sets over the years I've come to own two pairs of these shares.

They are decent low end shears, mass produced in China. I am surprised these shears are getting such great reviews. I was AMAZED someone was using them to cut food, but I've since learned for delicate herbs such as fresh chives, this is actually recommended...

As part of purchasing multiple Sabatier knife sets over the years I've come to own two pairs of these shares.

They are decent low end shears, mass produced in China. I am surprised these shears are getting such great reviews. I was AMAZED someone was using them to cut food, but I've since learned for delicate herbs such as fresh chives, this is actually recommended. Still, these are kitchen shears not poultry shears. I don't reach for these shears when food is involved.

I keep a pair in a kitchen drawer and use them for "light duty" jobs such as cutting off basil or thyme leaves. I can't imagine using these shears to open a bottle since mine have visibly bent from light duty.

Low end shears by Henkels International will last much longer AND many of their shears can be taken apart and sharpened.

These shears are made of the same medium quality steel Sabatier uses for their Chinese knife sets and this steel will rust if left wet of if food remains on the blade.

Of course, you should always hand wash and dry knives and kitchen shears but these will rust more easily than the high end German and French steel products (which cost much more of course).

You'd be better off with one of the higher end shears sold on Amazon. ...

She says the grip is very comfortable and that cutting with it even thru chicken bones/tougher tendons is a breeze, plus they don't feel like they're going to come apart (a complaint I've had with a couple brands I've tried). A good value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars the only kitchen scissors you'll ever need, May 24, 2003

A pair of these scissors came with a set of Sabatier knives that I ordered, and I liked them so much that I bought a second pair separately. They are easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. The high quality of the construction ensures that they will last for years, and I find the design to be ergonomically suited to the hand as well as pleasing to the eye.

4.0 out of 5 stars How did I live without??, November 14, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I love my kitchen shears... Now I don't know if there are those others that are better (probably), but these do the job nicely. I use these for cutting fat off my mean and cutting up herbs mostly... Unfortunately mine is broken now, but I think that has to do more with the fact that others in my household have chosen to use this for non-food prep purposes (cutting paper, boxes etc). I am going to get a new one as the price is good and I know this one works.

It cuts well as I expected but has rusted in one month!
I would not buy this again. My brother bought a shears ... and it works fine. No rust until now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strong scissors, large handles make grippage easier, October 6, 2002
By
This review is from: Sabatier Precision Kitchen Shears (Kitchen)
I like the large grippage (big holes in the handles, other scissors' holes were too small, hard to get leverage). Seems quite durable. An unscrewable bolt would have been nice for easier cleaning. As this is my first purchase of poultry shears I am reticent to throw down the five stars. Perhaps the blades could be just a tinge sharper. But I separated one chicked already and it worked out pretty okay. Cuts through ribs well, doesn't separate joints all that well, but I'm not sure if it's even supposed to be able to do that. I had to break out the serrated knife for that, so maybe not. But yeah, a good purchase, would certainly recommend, and it's cheap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little addition to my kitchen!, November 7, 2001
This review is from: Sabatier Precision Kitchen Shears (Kitchen)
I am very pleased with my Sabatier Kitchen Shears. It gives a whole new angle to cutting. Really. I use these shears on pizza, herbs, chicken, to make beef strips, just about everything. I seem to have a little more control with shears than I have with knives. It may just be my way of doing things but I think they are great.

My kitchen is loaded with gadgets but sometimes you just need something that gets right to the point (no pun intended).
