The Knives Suck!!!,
This review is from: Sabatier Superstar 16-Piece Knife Set (Kitchen)
Ok, I am not that picky of a knife person. But these knives are REALLY bad. It sounds cool that you're getting a "fantastic deal." Yea, you're getting something like $160 discount!
Don't buy it. I did and they rust and they are not that sharp at all. Plus the handle is plastic...cheap plastic! The ONLY good thing w/ this set is the wooden block. If you want to pay the total amt for the wooden block...it's a GREAT buy. However, the knives are bad, bad, bad..... Seriously, buyer beware!!!

I am not a gourmet cook. I have no need for anything real fancy but I wanted a good Knife set. This one is perfect for the average user. It contains all the necessary knives needed for everyday cooking. The mincer thing is slightly lame. Everything sticks to it and you have to keep wiping the food down to get it minced. My press'n'chop works better for that purpose. Aside from that one tool the rest of the set is great. They are all nice and sharp and the wood black is nice looking. Another good quality is that the blades run through the handle. This is very important, as I've had a large knife break free from it's handle before and I almost cut myself. I reccommend this set!

For 19.99 this is an "OK" starter set of knives. The blades are all serrated so you don't have to worry about sharpening them. They are EXTREMELY sharp. The set looks amazing out of the box. HOWEVER, after washing the knives only one time, the black handles are fading badly. The once pure black handles are now a faded, and "used" looking black. The blades on 4 of the larger knives are rusting BADLY. They look horrendous after only one wash in the dishwasher. It's obvious that the grade of Stainless Steel they are using is extremely poor. It's a shame because at a glance these look like fantastic knives. Heavy duty, thick blades, full tang, beautiful block, etc... I would save my $20 and go elsewhere. Unless you want to take a shot at hand washing and hand drying them every time you use them.

If You Are Looking For A Maintenance Free Knife Set With Good Looks, A Good Feel In The Hand, And A Great Price - Look No Further. If You Are Looking For Fancy Chef's Knives - Why Did You Click On A $19.99 Set In The First Place? If You Are Wanting To Acquire A Useful Set Of Knives At A Great Price That Look And Feel Great And Require No Sharpening Then This Set Is Fantastic. I Could Not Be Happier And Purchased Three More Sets As Gifts The Day After I Received My First Set. Target Was Selling These Knives For A Hundred Dollars And I Saw Many Sets In The Store For 40 - 50- 60 Dollars That Did Not Come Close To The Quality Of These Knives. Unbelievable Value For The Money.

At this low price, I wasn't expecting the best knives. They exceeded my expectations and are a great deal for what they are. No they don't stack up to the top-of-the-line, but they serve a different purpose and serve it very well. The block and the knives are attractive and look fine sitting out. I call them my "drone" knives because my high-end chef's knives are tucked away in a knife rack in a drawer. These cheap knives out in the open give my husband, mom, etc. a knife to grab when they want to open a letter, or punch a hole in a leather belt. (Geesh, the abuse my good knives were subjected to ...) My life is better. Others' lives are improved by not having to endure my wrath. And now I find myself reaching for these knives when I simply want to toss the dirty knife into the dishwasher and not have to handwash like I do with the good ones. They certainly serve their purpose and I'm very happy with them.

I'm not sure if the other person got this same set of knives, because I think they're wonderful!! The plastic is the same or better than as on the wustoff or henkles I've seen in the dept. stores. They're sooo sharp- looking and cutting!I love these knives!!!!!

I bought this attractice cutlery set about 2 months ago. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this set. Use of the utensils has been made easy by their ergonomically correct handles, the high quaulity steel blades are sharp and ready for any project. I am very particular about my paring knives and the one included in this set is now my favorite one. Overall this is a great value for the money. The only con: they are not meant to be put in the diswasher. (I'm a little lazy) The steel blades are fine, but the handles tend to discolor a little. I love this set so much, I bought another to store for that day that I lose or damage a first piece. :-)
