Book Description

April 1993
The APOCALYPSE is NOW

It is the dawn of the twenty-first century, the beginning of the third millennium of the Christian Era, and Bob and Harvey have a plan to cash in on it. They've bought up all the property they can in Bethlehem and built a chain of Bimillennial Hotels, and all they have to do is wait for the tourists to pour in.

But on Easter Sunday their party gets pooped when the lunatic Caesar Nero rises from the dead. He desecrates the Ten Commandments, arrests all Jews and Christians, and forces everyone else to worship him on two-way TV. Moses Lawgiver and Elijah Prophet return from Federation Headquarters at the galactic center, but a cannibalistic Red Army is on the march and Nero's Prime Minister Judas Priest has a plan to rob the west blind.

The seventh trumpet is already sounding. Is this really the end? Or is it just the beginning?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Sabbath Chapter by Grant Garber was quickly entertaining. Mr Garber soon immerses the reader in his flight of imagination of the last days of our world as we know it. Full of dry and sometimes obscure humor, The Sabbath Chapter takes you on a ride you won't soon forget. Mr Garber successfully ties biblical facts, present day politics, chaotic church issues, and personal struggles into a neat package destined to entertain the fortunate souls who pick it up and read past the first few pages. Once you've got Bob and Harvey straight, you won't be able to put it down. One of the most enjoyable, quick reads that have happened along my way in ages.-- -- C.S. Thompson Paso Robles, California

About the Author

Grant Garber was born in Akron, Ohio, in 1952. He received his M.A. in English Literature at CSU Fresno in 1980 and reached the finals of his Ph.D. at UC Santa Barbara in 1983, but did not complete the degree. Since then he has lived in Selma, California, on perpetual sabbatical, reading, writing, and watching serious fiction with insatiable appetite. In 1977 he memorized verbatim the Book of Revelation; this became the basis and inspiration for The Sabbath Chapter, for as he recited it, Garber learned to enter the mind of its author.
