5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Diane Kapustka on January 5, 2008
I gotta say, i was at my favorite drum store, testing all these different splashes out. I payed most attention to the sabian ones. this one sounded the best next to the hhx evolution 7" splash. I'm saying this sounds better than aax splashes, aa splash, other hhx splashes, hand hammered splashes. This is a great splash for beginners, intermediate, and possibly even advanced drummers. Good response, and, like the description says, good for short, glassy accents. Thats what this does. And whats even better? Its very replaceable. What do i mean? if you break it, takes close to nothing to get it replaced, plus im pretty sure theres a 1 year warrenty on it anyway, so who wouldnt want this bad boy? This splash sounded better than the zildjians ones too, im talking the k customs, a customs. You wont regret getting this. But, remember, dont take my word for it. I got it cause i think **I** thought it sounded good. Try splashes out at your local drum store before buying them, always. But im sayin', this is great, at least in my opinion.

I have a Ludwig trap-set, with 6 Sabian cymbals: a 20-inch ride, a 16-inch crash, a 14-inch crash, two 14-inch hi-hats, and this 10-inch splash. All of the other Sabians have a terrific sound and great resonance/lasting-ability. This one is unfortunately not up to par with the others. I guess it must simply be a function of the smaller size and diminished thickness, but the tonal quality is dull (almost "tinny-sounding"), and the lasting-ability is very poor. I have it sitting on top of my 20-inch ride (on a cymbal stacker), serving merely as a decoration to my set, since I never, ever hit it with my sticks. I would NOT recommend this cymbal. For slightly more money, you can buy a 14-inch crash, and you will be far more satisfied.
