Product Description

Product Description

A thin but extremely robust model, the 16" AAX V-Crash is designed to deliver powerful, punchy front-end attack along with bright, glassy sounds and full sustain for increased effectiveness. The V-Crash also benefits from a power-increasing bell, balanced bell-to-bow responses, and pinpoint lathing to emphasize focused high-end cut. The SABIAN AAX series delivers consistently bright, crisp, clear and cutting responses – AAX is the ultimate Modern Bright sound!

The bright sound of this cymbal--powered by silver in its B20 Bronze--slices through the music around it.

The 16-inch Vault V crash cymbal (see larger image).
All About the Vault Collection

Vault is a collection of cymbals and sounds. Named after The Vault, the center of Sabian design, this collection is about very different concepts, looks, sounds. Each piece is unique, with many created in collaboration with major names including Bozzio, Calhoun, and Portnoy... while Paragon is a powerful yet dynamic range designed with legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart.

Vault and Paragon: Creative designs for creative players

Unlike other series, where there are variations on a particular type of sound--like Vintage Bright or Modern Dark--the Vault Collection is a wide range of sounds while Paragon delivers dynamically big responses. So let your imagination run wild.

What They're Saying
"Vault is authentic artistic expression… bold, unique and innovative ideas rooted in a deep understanding of sonic engineering." --Jojo Mayer

"Sabian has done more to advance the art of cymbal making than anyone else in the past 400 years of cymbal making history." --Mike Portnoy

I had broken my Sabian B8 Pro 16" thin crash after 10 years of playing it and I was looking for a replacement. I was going to look at an AAX stage crash, but I started to look at the Vault crash. I hadn't heard of it, so I tried it out, and it sounded great. You can change the sound of it depending on how hard you strike it (which I know you can do with any cymabal) but the response on this one was much better. It has a little more muffled sound with softer hits and it can really cut when you hit it hard.

I've only had it for 5 months, so I don't know how durable it is, but so far, no cracks. It's a different sound than what I originally was looking for, but it adds more to my kit.
