This review is from: Sabian 21 Inch AA Rock Ride (Electronics)
The cymbal has a really good ping sound and stick articulation but it isn't too metallic sounding like a lot of the metal rides and ping rides out there. The bell has a medium sized bell and I find it to be a good size. It is heavy in weight and the cymbal has a moderate bow shape to it which I presume helps it to project its volume. What I also like is it comes in a 21" and Zildjian doesn't have a lot of 21 inches in its arsenal. It is fully lathed which gives a bright sound but it isn't too bright. It is crashable but I wouldn't recommend using at as a crash cymbal. The only negative is it has a bit too much wash. I also have a 22" Paiste 2002 heavy ride and a 20" Meinl raw bell ride. As a comparison to those, the Paiste has too much wash, its too bright and not crashable. The Meinl is unlathed and it is too dry, and isn't that loud. The Sabian rock ride is my favorite so far and I think it is a good choice for rock music. I also was interested the Sabian Ed Shaughnessy Universal Ride. It is basically the same as the rock ride but it isn't as heavy and maybe a better fit for players who play different styles of music.
