I bought one of these about a year ago. The indicator light isn't very bright. I haven't had any problems with a 1TB WD drive. If you use the eSATA connection, be sure to have it plugged in first before you turn on the computer or you will not be able to access the drive. I found this out when I first thought the box wasn't being recognized. I found this information from reading other reviews. This is the same for all other brands of eSATA boxes too.

One of the picture shown in Amazon shows clearly a eSATA cable. The other picture (the one with the box) does not. When I receive the package, guess what, no eSATA cable. I think this is false advertisement. Now I have to drive to a computer store and spent at least $6 for a cable to test if the box work. I think I just return it instead.

Works fantastic. Perfect plug and play. Nice sleek look. Only problem I had was a end cover was cut too long. So just pulled off and trimmed back, reinstalled. Everything looks great and works fantastic.

It was plug and play! Performs flawlessly. Had big worries if the Sabrent was the correct one for the job but good documentation helped. Watched the video on YouTube and found the power wire does get in the way. Almost pinched it in teo before opening the case again and relocated wires. That is the only design issue I have had.

It is a one piece thin strong extruded aluminum case with plastic end caps. You open it up mount the drive with the provided hardware (and provided screwdriver) and plug in the power and data and that is it. They provided the power supply 12V/2A, one USB type B to type A cable, and one eSATA cable. There's a power switch mounted on the case and a red LED that stays on as long as power is applied and blinks when data is transferred.

It will run somewhat warm (really a function of the drive's efficiency and not the case's fault) but considering that it is sealed with no fan it isn't too warm. I'm using an old 80GB Hitachi drive to test it with and using the eSATA port to move data. Windows power manager will shut it down if it isn't needed (an I recommend using it if the drive will be accessed infrequently).

It hums a bit, but that is vibration from the spinning disk. The hard plastic holder they include transfers the vibration to my desktop and results in the humming sound. A strip of cardboard under the drive decouples the vibration and it is totally silent.

You can use a Sata 3 HDD in this enclosure, but it may need to be configured for Sata 2 - IE: I used a current late 2013 made WD Green 2TB Sata 3 - I installed in this Sabrent w/ a jumper across pins 5 & 6 & connected through ESATA port- Windows recognized it immediately and did a perfect clone of my data secondary 750GB WD Blue HDD (my main OS is on a SATA 3 SSD (which needs no jumpers). A HDD over 2TB is not supported with this model Sabrent. If you have a 3TB HDD, buy an enclosure that supports it. FYI the ESATA did the clone in 20 minutes vs 1:10 for USB 2.
