This book is just too clever and cute!! In case you don't know about this, there is a movement out there to teach babies sign language before they are physically capable of speech, based on the concept that babies give all sorts of signals that they understand what we are saying long before they can say it themselves. Baby Signs has darling full-round pop-ups (baby in high chair, baby in bath, etc.) with the expected ingenuity of Sabuda & Reinhart Studios, and, in addition, has paper engineering by Kyle Olmon and illustrations by Jacqueline Rogers. The most unique thing is that each page teaches a different sign, which is demonstrated in motion when one pulls the corresponding tab. The book would intrigue children, with supervision, of course, but is a real gem for the book-collector's shelf as well. I have purchased three of these as new-baby gifts, and they have been received with delight. Highly recommended!

although our 21 month old grandson can speak, for some unknown reason, he chooses not to verbalize often but is very comfortable signing and he and his 4 year old brother both love this little gem of a book!
