I believe that Bach's complete cantatas beyond just the most famous ones belong in the collections of anyone who loves classical music. I have found that they are concentrated masterpieces of musical word setting And each one is completely different. I am enamored of Rilling's cycle because of the complete dedication he and his performers give to each work the perform. The only people who will not like Rilling are those who insist on period instruments. I have listened to Gardiner and I found him less passionate readings. The booklets contain a complete explanation of each canasta and what to look for in them in order to best appreciate Bach's mastery
Since the BWV numbers are not sequential this disc contains works from different parts of Bach's life.

BWV 58 Ah God it is with heartfelt Grief uses only solo instruments until the ending. This was composed for the Epiphany and contains a moving soprano aria accompanied by silo violin Hamelin Michel heartbreaking playing.
BWV 59 He who Loves me will keep my commandments was written for the Epiphany's is very upbeat celebrating the Holy Spirit is remarkable for it's opening duet for soprano and tenor
BWV 60Eternity thou thunderous word is not one of Bach's best efforts is barely listenable .due to its overuse of recitives
BWV 61 Now I come the gentile's savior was composed for Advent was called a concerto by Bach because of it's massive orchestra is a moving portrait of the birth of Christ with two arias that are some of Bach's best for Bass and soprano "Come Jesus Christ

\Buy as many of these Rilling discs as you can afford.
Please excuse typos I have a neurologic disease.
