His best selling album Distant Spirits has been featured on the nationally syndicated NPR radio shows "Hearts of Space" and "Echoes" and can be heard on the DMX digital radio network. New Age Retailer Magazine said "Distant Spirits provides an excellent accompaniment for meditation or yoga, and it is transporting music for simple relaxation and quiet listening. ...[a] gorgeous album"
Augusts Native American Music Award winning CD Sacred Dreams, released in 2003 features instruments from around the globe including native flutes from North American, clay flutes from Meso America, kalimbas and udus from Africa along with other world instruments and native vocals. Also featured on "Hearts of Space" and "Echoes", Voice of the Wind magazine says "August captures the Southwest perfectly. This is an outstanding CD."
With his third CD, New Fire, released in March 2005, August adds Aztec drums, African kalimbas, Indonesian gamelans, Australian didgeridoos and haunting Mayan double flutes to his mixture of Native American flute, guitars, pianos and evocative textures. All part of Augusts unique, unmistakable, and acclaimed best selling style.
August began his musical training on cello and piano, and became interested in world music when he was given as African kalimba at age 10. He discovered Native American flutes in 1996 during a trip to the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. Its haunting sound captivated him, and he soon began adding native flutes to his recordings. He founded Cedar Mesa Music in 2001. August is also a noted composer and producer of music for film and video and has, since 1989, composed music and sound design for hundreds of films, commercials and video projects, for clients such as NASA, The Discovery Channel, Lexus, Chevrolet, HBO, Nabisco, Minolta and many others. The Discovery Channel described his work as "global, edgy, unexpected, emotional and sensual." And the Los Angeles Times has called it "shimmering and luminous." His music was featured in the Olympic village during the '96 Olympics in Atlanta, and one of his projects for NASA is on permanent display at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Beautiful!,

"Sacred Dreams" is the perfect CD to listen to when you want to be reminded that life consits of more than just the mundane. Scott August has created a soundscape that allows the mind to travel to it's own sacred places...be they on the rim of a canyon or in the heart of an old memory. With each listen I am continually amazed at where I end up. From the first note, right through to the last, August has created music that echoes the heart of life's journey. For anyone who wants to reconnect, who wishes to catch flight on an echoing memory, who understands the journeys we all take--"Sacred Dreams" is music that will transport and transform you. Bottom line:: highly recommended

BRAVO!,

Once again, Scott has been able to transport the listener to places unknown and only imagined. Mystical voices, and the sounds of beautiful haunting flutes form a trapistry of textures in sound that have given this work of art, a soul all it's own. A must have for quiet moments, reflection and meditation.

i was listening to itunes radio and heard the songSedona Sunrise. I was in awe from the beauty of this piece. I am 17 years old and i listen to hardcore and metal and all that fun stuff but listening to this brings me to a place where i can relax and realize that there is other music. I HIGHLY recommend this cd to anyone at any age. :)
