This review is from: The Sacred Embrace of Jesus and Mary: The Sexual Mystery at the Heart of the Christian Tradition (Paperback)
This book explores the possibility of there being more than a teacher-disciple relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and Mary Magdalene. While there are many books on this topic, the author takes a rather unique approach, exploring both canonical and non-canonical (Gnostic) texts, exploring the views of sexuality in 1st Century Jewish society, and how the sexuality of Jesus has changed through the centuries. I would recommend this book as among the first books to read when studying this particular subject. The slightly enlarged print and straightforward language (and accompanying explanations) make it easier to read than other scholarly books on the same topic.
