review of The Sacred Garden, May 5, 2000
This review is from: Sacred Garden (Paperback)
The Sacred Garden: Soil for the Growing Soul, led me to a place inside myself that I need to visit more frequently. Barrett's insights and understanding of human nature and "mother" nature make this a necessary guide for readers who want to harvest deeper meaning in their lives. The writing is accessible, and the author's knowldege of gardening is a gift in a book that is a gift in itself for the wisdom and inspiration it provides.

Spirituality and Gardening - A Powerful Meditation Book, October 6, 2008
This review is from: Sacred Garden (Paperback)
Patti Barrett, an Episcopal priest, has written a book combining gardening advice, meditations and prayers that will guide you through the year. The prayers and meditations lift your spirit, help you converse deeply with God, and guide you in the practice of a spiritual life that will grow your soul, your garden, and your work in the world beyond your garden gates. For clergy and lay teachers, the book is a source for readings for worship services and small group ministry For everyone this is a book to read with your morning coffee as you plan your day of gardening, be it among the roses or thorns of this world. I wanted to give this book 5 stars but somehow pushed the wrong buttons and couldn't edit. It is a 5 star book!

A wonderful little book, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Sacred Garden (Paperback)
This wonderful little book is a collection of meditations for the Christian gardener. Each of the meditations includes with a Bible verse, a gardening suggestion, a short homily, and then a prayer. There are eighteen of these mediations for each of the four seasons, taking the reader though the gardener's year.
Overall, I found this to be a great resource, filled with lots of good advice, and spiritual nutrition. I love this book and highly recommend it to all those who cultivate gardens - spiritual as well as physical. Enjoy!
