Book Description

January 1, 1997
Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook is a resource and reference book with over 1300 geometric designs for kids (makes a fantastic coloring book), educators, home-schoolers, mosaic and mandala artists, quilters, stained glass artisans, hobbyists, Origami crafters, 3D model makers, tiling designers, landscapers, architects, or anyone that is curious about mystical and universal geometric patterns. These geometric patterns and designs (many referred to as Sacred Geometry in recent years) occur abundantly in nature, in countless masterpieces of art and architecture over many millennia, and have captured the imagination of luminaries such as Leonardo daVinci, Pythagoras, Plato, Kepler, Einstein, my colleagues and fellow authors and countless others. We're all fascinated by what seems at first (to the uninitiated) to be an arcane mathematical study, but later reveals itself to be an inquiry into the simple unity of all life, expressed in an infinite variety of forms representing the principle of interconnectedness. Even popular works like the DaVinci Code by Dan Brown have popularized the subject. If you want a great 'hands on' source book, read on! Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook introduces the ancient art and science of Sacred Geometry - the easy way: whole brain play and creative exploration. This 256 page, 8.5 by 11 inch, spiral bound (for easy photocopying) book is a reference of full page line art graphic images and ready-to-use templates. In addition to a large collection of 2-dimensional patterns, a coloring book for kids of all ages, there are 27 3-dimensional fold-up patterns for creating exquisite shapes. These patterns and designs have been revered by pioneers and geniuses through the ages in painting, scuplture, architecture, physics, botany, materials science, crystallography and many more arts and sciences. There is a brief introductory section on the philosophical perspective of universal proportions and symbols. The book also has extensive tables, Web links and a bibliography for those whose curiosity has been sparked by the hands-on, experiential majority of the book; a reference for serious students of geometry.

More About the Author

Bruce Rawles studied universal essence and mystical interconnectedness underlying all form from an early age. Inner-guided studies have taken him through explorations in Hermetic philosophy, sacred geometry, and numerous systems of self-inquiry while developing both community and technical networks. In 2007, Disappearance of the Universe (by Gary Renard) renewed his interest in the pure non-dual metaphysics of A Course In Miracles; he now edits ACIMblog.com; a resource for students of forgiveness-centered mindfulness. He is the author of Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook: Universal Dimensional Patterns, the GeometryCode.com website, and screensaver (co-author.) The forthcoming Geometry Code book will be a bridge between the symbolic realm of geometric metaphor, timeless omnipresent laws, and the practical wisdom of choosing transpersonal kindness that frees our identity from self-limiting concepts and the imprisonment of projecting the unconscious belief in a fragmented cosmos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sacred Geometry for Young and Old, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook: Universal Dimensional Patterns (Spiral-bound)
The Sacred Geometry Sourcebook bu Nancy-Bolton Rawles and Bruce Rawles is a great book to own for seekers of any age. If you have children in the house, from toddlers on up, this book is an excellent tool to awaken their awareness of Geometry, Color, Space and Design! the Illustrations are beautiful and masterfully done and even those who have studied Geometry or Sacred Geometry for many years should have this Sourcebook as part of their library.

I would further suggest that anyone in any Design field, such as Architects, Graphic Designers, Interior and Exterior Designers, Jewelry Designers, Illustrators, etc., would do very well from a professional standpoint to have this Book available for Inspiration, Education and Explanation.

I highly recommend it. I also recommend Bruce Rawles as a Teacher of Sacred Geometry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sacred Geometry Demystified, February 18, 2010
This review is from: Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook: Universal Dimensional Patterns (Spiral-bound)
I have always been a fan of geometry Sacred or otherwise. My interest started with Buckminster Fuller's work and continued with my studies in Architecture and Engineering. Several years ago I ordered several books on Sacred Geometry and attended a few workshops.

Over the years I have read and studied over 20 books on the subject and found that Bruce's "Design Sourcebook" is the most user friendly source available on this subject. I love the kinetically connected process of hands on learning. Sacred Geometry can be a complex and confusing subject but Bruce has boiled it down to a level that my grandchildren can understand and enjoy. However his work also contains enough solid content to keep a wannabe expert like me engaged.

I had the unexpected opportunity to meet Bruce and Nancy on a painting trip to Guatemala a couple of years ago. We met on my first night in Antigua and about half way through dinner realized that I had read and studied his book. We spent the next several days talking about Sacred geometry and how it related to art and architecture. Bruce is articulate and fun to be with, I hope to one day attend one of his workshops and renew our exploration of this intriguing subject.
