4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
While not the best in the series, I found this installment of the series to be an enjoyable read. I thought it was better than Paradox, which I happened to read first and out of order. This one seems to be taking us more into the realm of the supernatural than many of the others and I am interested to see where it goes. There is a lot going on and we seem to have a new...

1.0 out of 5 stars I've read better fanfic
How bad does a book need to be for me to write my first review?

First, let me say that I love the Rogue Angel series and Annja's character - no matter which author writes the story (and yes, I have liked Mr. Merz's other "contributions"). To say I am disappointed in this book is an understatement. Sacred Ground reads like cliche filled, bad fanfic and seems...

While not the best in the series, I found this installment of the series to be an enjoyable read. I thought it was better than Paradox, which I happened to read first and out of order. This one seems to be taking us more into the realm of the supernatural than many of the others and I am interested to see where it goes. There is a lot going on and we seem to have a new force for Annja to reckon with at some point in a future story. I don't know how that will play out since these things have been pretty much self-contained vignettes -- although this one referenced Polar Quest and that is not something I recall from any previous book in the series.

Sure, it is somewhat predictable, a little contrived, and lacking deep character development, but I don't set the bar terribly high for these things: they're quick reads for fun.

To say I am disappointed in this book is an understatement. Sacred Ground reads like cliche filled, bad fanfic and seems to be more of a rush job then a real investment in the series. I am just sorry I spent money on it (and this coming from someone who owns hundreds of paper and electronic books).
