Book Description

June 9, 2003
In 1776, Benjamin Thompson, a Loyalist spy, makes a deal with Lord Germain that he will time travel to the future, steal the original Declaration of Independence, go back to 1774 and sell the Declaration to him. In 2276, Huey T. Stone wants to destroy the Declaration and replace it with his own brand of history. Neither Benjamin Thompson nor Huey Stone are aware that there are three people determined to stop them. Mbakondja, an underground militant, disagrees with Huey’s grand vision of a new America. Don Honeyman, a double spy and descendant of John Honeyman, switches alliances when he learns the truth about Lizzie Freeman. Lizzie Freeman, British double agent in 1776 and 2276, wants to eliminate Huey Stone from office and take over his job as Royal Governor of the Commonwealth of the United City States.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complex Plot, August 31, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sacred Honor (Paperback)
The author of Sacred Honor did her homework. The book is well-researched and very complex of plot. I also enjoyed how she very seamlessly wove both historical and fictional characters into the storyline, but I needed one main character with whom I could relate (someone I really liked and could identify with emotionally) to "carry" me through the story. Sometimes I felt too much afloat among the varied plot lines.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique and Wonderful Mixture of Science Fiction and History!, August 4, 2006
This review is from: Sacred Honor (Paperback)
Lillian Cauldwell has a talent for creative thinking and writing and in her novel "Sacred Honor" she successfully mixes two genres together to give the reader a rare and unique storyline. This is a kind of "what if we could go back and change something in history" kind of story dealing with our nations founding fathers and the Revolutionary War. It is also about the future and what that would be like given that some our basic history gets altered.

The author takes the reader on a journey through time and space and in the process captures the best elements of both sci-fi and historic fiction. She obviously researched her American history and the people she writes about but she adds new twists to the original history and creates a whole new future.

The construction and phrasing is good and tight and she uses the dialog surgically as she moves the reader along with her story. This whole storyline is hung together by some careful plot movement to and from the future and the past. Not many writers could successfully pull this off and still have the reader follow the action. Lillian not only manages this tightrope but also makes it seem believable.

This is a good book to sit back and read on a cold winter's night or a lazy summer afternoon. It is a reading adventure and it will certainly entertain you.
