While this violin book is definitely not for beginners, it is still pretty simple. It leaves the first position, but as a beginner violinist you could just transpose the notes down an octave to still be able to play. The piano accompaniment is also pretty simple, not advanced. It doesn't have a CD to play along with so you will need someone to accompany you. It does have a pull-out section that is just the violin music so the pianist can use the main book.

Nice book. To be able to play most of the songs, though, you need to know how to play in 3rd position.
