The mandala has been used as a tool for meditation, transformation and activation in many cultures throughout history. Originally a Hindu word meaning 'circle' or 'completion,' the mandala represents wholeness, unity, and the womb of creation. It is the two-dimensional expression of the universe from finite to the infinite. Japanese artist Kaho Koinuma says, 'Mandalas act as a portal to higher consciousness and oneness where all form and the infinite become one and the same.' The images in the Sacred Mandalas of the heart 2009 Wall Calendar were chosen specifically to activate and awaken the heart of all beings. Captions are in both English and Japanese.
