A softer side of Lanz stays from the solo piano,
By TonyD "think41c@hotmail.com" (Austin, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sacred Road (Audio CD)
David Lanz demonstrates his brilliance all throughout this entire album. It's softer and more emotional approach can certainly make you wonder how Lanz can bring out such emotion in just simple notes. Despite Lanz's common tradition of playing the piano solo, his works in this album encompas a more fuller sound by slightly incorporating the melodious effects of light beats and wind instruments caressing the background. If you're a David Lanz fan I'd highly recommend this. However, if you're new to Lanz, I'd reommend David Lanz - Skyline Firedance. Almost every song on the Firedance album is superb whereas you'll only find about 60% or so of the songs are worth listening deeply to on this album. However, those songs are great and makes the entire CD worth a strong buy. (Email comments welcome)

Incredible and Haunting Melodies,
By Robbie Steiner (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews

David Lanz's Sacred Road is definitely a Sacred Road that one must travel. I have traveled the music of Sacred Road and it was one of the most enriching and beautiful experiences that has ever happened to me. Listening to the music that David Lanz creates is a great treat that everybody should be able to experience as much as they possibly can. I would recommend Sacred Road for any Piano, New Age, or Music Lover. If you are not a music lover, I would still recommend this album to you. This album has made a positive effect on my life and I would like to thank David Lanz and the music that he creates. If you have the opportunity, get all of David's albums. They ARE all worth the experience!

One of David Lanz's best CDs,

"Sacred Road" contains a beautiful blend of music, in between "Skyline Firedance" and some of David Lanz's softer music such as "Cristofori's Dream". Some of the pieces, such as "Dreamer's Waltz" and "Brother Quixote" have a dance-like rhythm, while others, such as "Still Life" and "Before the Last Leaf Falls" are quiet and introspective. My favorite among all the tracks are "Prelude: The Approaching Night" and "Nocturne" which are in the style of the Skyline Firedance Suite but softer. In all the different pieces on this CD fit together very well and create a continuous flow from beginning to end -- a feast for the ears.

I have enjoyed David Lanz music for years, my husband is just now enoying his music. I bought this CD for him for Christmas. Before the service, our church pianist played a song from this David Lanz CD and my husband loved the music.

Great new ideas, dynamic and colorful, very rythmic but yet delicately expressed and blended with the other instruments. I love it!
