Poor excuse for a book, July 22, 2004
This review is from: Sacred Sex (Sacred Symbols Series) (Hardcover)
If you're looking for a book that discusses sacred sexuality, you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking for a book that titillates you, you have come to the wrong place. If you want a book with a lot of pictures of art, go to a real art book, where you might find good information about the art you are viewing.
Though there are nice pictures of art from around the world here (which is the ONLY reason I didn't give it a one star rating), many are unattributed (like an image of Inanna just called "the earth goddess", a not entirely accurate representation) and most center in Greek, Rome, Medieval, and Indian images.
The images and text seem to primarily be along the lines of saying that yes, male images, female images, and couple images have been important all over the world. Well, isn't that obvious? Other images don't even relate to sexuality at all, just little snippets of lore relating to a person or deity who happens to be depicted nude.
Summary:
Save your money. This tiny book isn't worth the postage.
