This review is from: Time and Sacrifice in the Aztec Cosmos (Religion in North America) (Hardcover)
A truly excellent, well written book for the Mesoamerican scholar, student, or the serious-minded armchair "Aztec history buff" who desires to explore in detail, key elements of Aztec life and society. Another book, much along the same lines as this one -- and *EQUALLY* HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - is called, "THE JADE STEPS" by Brundage; it might be a trifle hard to find anywhere but via Amazon since it's out-of-print; BOTH books are well worth the investment
Anyone serious about understanding the Aztec mind and social order should read both "Time and Sacrifice in the Aztec Cosmos" (K. A. Read) and also, "THE JADE STEPS" by Burr Cartwright Brundage (University of Utah Press; (c)1985; ISBN# 0-87480-247-4). FYI, Dr. Brundage has authored nearly a dozen extraordinarily well written and researched books on Aztec civilization; most are (sadly) tough to find. |
