3.0 out of 5 stars A little Male Perspective
This was the book that made me keep reading after I read the first in the series. I wanted to get to the book that I knew would be focused on Stanton and his point of view. It wasn't as fufilling as I had hoped, however, it was not as dissapointing as the book told from Serena's P.O.V. What is great about this book of this series as all of the background information we...

This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
Stanton was taken against his will (invitus) when he was only 6. It was the thirteenth century at the time. Now during present day times Stanton is still a powerful follower, but he hasn't recruited anyone to the darkside since he met his one true love, Serena, a daughter of the moon destined to destroy his kind. And she feels the very same way about him. Their relationship is impossible, but their love is too strong. When some bad news comes around about Serena, his only way to protect her is to bring someone to the Atrox. Serena witnesses this and is furious with him, but later on, she and the other goddesses are able to bring him back to the light, however when a new danger arrives, something happens that has Serena mad at him again. But knowing that the danger will now come after her, Stanton is forced to return to the dark. I wont say what happens next, but I immediately fell in love with this book! Stanton is such dream come true. Half the time while I read it, I was saying to myself, "Aww, he's so sweet. I've got to get a boyfriend like him." Nobody but my fellow readers understand him... I wonder if anybody else will think he's a TOTAL-SWEETHEART-DREAM-HOTTIE!?
Lynn Ewing, keep up the beautiful work, and please make another book about him.

5.0 out of 5 stars He has to give up the life he has always known for his love, April 12, 2002
This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
Stanton is a Follower to an ancient evil called the Atrox. Since the dawn of time, the Atrox has been jealous of the world of light, and it brought itself into being. Stanton was once a boy living in Western Europe with a father who was a great prince. Stanton's father raised up a crusade against the Atrox, but the Atrox kidnapped Stanton away in return. Stanton was taken into it's evil congregation against his will; thus he is 'invitus'.

Serena Killingsworth is a Daughter of the Moon. Her destiny is quite different from Stanton's. Blessed by the moon goddess Selene, Serena (along with Catty, Jimena, and Vanessa) was put on earth to spread hope. She is a goddess, with the special power to read minds. Serena and Stanton have fallen deeply in love with one another, but Stanton is trying to push her away. He tells her it is too dangerous; the Regulators would destroy them both if they learned of the truth.

Stanton feels the first tremor of warning flutter through the air on Halloween night. Stanton is worried about Serena and what might happen to her. Soon Malcolm, a Regulator whose butchery is legend, arrives. Stanton boldly accepts his fate, but when the dying Malcolm begs for help, Stanton is shocked. He tries to warn Stanton but Malcolm dies before he can. Stanton soon hears whispers growing from the underworld, and Cassandra tells him she has someone who wants to meet him...

Stanton would do anything to protect Serena, which is what I loved most about 'The Sacrifice'. It was albeit, sad, but if you read the next book in the series (The Lost One), you won't feel as sad (I don't want to give anything away), but this book was: WOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars And Lynne Ewing does it again!, December 15, 2001
By

This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
When I first heard this was a Stanton book, I was somewhat shocked. First of all, I demanded, isn't this called Daughters of the Moon, not Sons of Evil? But then I got the book and I totally fell in love with the story.
But I'm getting off track.
This story is about star-crossed lovers (Shakspeare on the brain much?) One is named Serena, and she is a goddess, a Daughter of the Moon. She has the power to read people's minds. She is part of a group of three others-until the 6th book that is- named Catty, Vanessa, and Jimena who each have a special power. Serena falls in love with Stanton. Stanton is what's know as a Follower, someone who follows the Atrox, an evil out to destroy hope and the Daughters of the Moon. Stanton is an Immortal, which is one of the highest ranks among the Atrox. His destiny is to destroy the Daughters. The greatest gift to the Atrox was a seduction and capture of a Daughter. But Stanton loves Serena truly, and he's not after her powers anymore. He loves her.
This is the saddest and most dark of all the Daughters of the Moon books. To find out what happens to Stanton and to see if Serena become abducted by him, read this book. To find out what everyone is talking about with Catty, read this book. You won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good or Evil?, October 21, 2001
This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
Stanton has always been a faithful follower of the Atrox ever since the day he was forced into a change, but when he falls in love with Serena everything changes. He wants nothing more than to be with her but when he is, part of him wants to make her a follower, a servent of the Atrox. He knows that to be safe he can no longer see her and when a couple of old "friends" return to Stanton he realizes that their is a plot against the Daughters of the Moon that he must stop to save Serena. But will it work? What's more powerful? Stanton's love for Serena or his evil nature?

I found this book to be an impressive edition to the series. Stanton has always been a mysterious charecter that I've been interested in and it's good to see his story for once. This was a very good book though not as good as the last one, and it has a shocker ending that will really surprise you! If you're a fan of this series I reccomend reading this book. It's worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Plot, Tragic Ending, May 12, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
Stanton, a somewhat loyal servant of the Atrox, has fallen in love with Serena. They have been secretly seeing each other behind the Atrox's back. It is dangerous and risky because it is forbidden. With the goddess's help, Stanton breaks free from the Atrox. But Stanton must suffer and make sacrifices because of his love for Serena and how she is in danger. In the end, his love is pure, but did they end up together? What happened?
Comments: This book was one of the best!!! It was soo sad, you could almost cry. Poor Stanton, his love for Serena so strong...yet she couldn't even see it. His true sacrifice might not have been big to him...maybe because all he cared about was that Serena was safe and that he had done it for her. Such a touching story!!!

This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
this one and into the cold fire #2 are my favorite so far i love stanton and serenas forbidden love they love each other so much that there willing to risk everything to be with one another and when stanton finds out that he is endangering serenas life by being with her he gives he up even though he is evil and could just think about himself he gives her up to protect her. in this one it is from the view of the daughters enemy and serenas love stanton and his struggle with the life of a invitus one taken against his will. he is going against the laws of the atrox by being with serena but he doesnt care until he finds out it could get serena killed but in the end the daughters try to bring stanton back to the good side but i am not going to say what happened to him but in the end he makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his love it was so sad that it made me cry because he loved her soo much. i dont know anyone who wouldnt like this book and the restofthe series but you have to be into wierd things and sort of paranormal mythilogical stuff and a bit of romance

5.0 out of 5 stars A Battle Between Light and Dark......, October 6, 2002
This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
This is by far the best book in the series, starring my favorite character: Stanton. In this book, you get to see what life is like for Stanton -- he doesn't want to do what he does, and he doesn't want to be evil, but there's nothing he can do about it -- and why he has so many inner-struggles with himself. You learn more about why he can't be with Serena; a Daughter of the Moon, and the one in the world he cares for most. While you read this book, you'll run across struggles for light and dark, and learn that everything is not always black and white; but can be many shades of gray. Stanton also gets a chance to become a normal person again. But what will happen if he does become regular again? What would the Atrox do? What would it do to Serena? And could Lambert (a member of the Inner Circle) destroy Stanton at last? The ending to this book will leave you chilled to the bone, and wondering what on earth will happen to Stanton next time.

By A Customer
This review is from: The Sacrifice (The Daughters of the Moon, No. 5) (Hardcover)
This book is amazing. It reminds me of Christopher Pike and I always read his books. OMG. You get to feel all of Stanton's emotions. And you could never guess the ending. A good fast read.
