As one evil falls, another rises in its place. The powerful witch, Desdemona, has finally been killed by an alliance of wolf, elf, and fae. But Reyaz, brother to Cypher the warlock king, has vowed retribution for a life that was taken from him. Now Cypher must decide not only how to protect his newfound mate and his people, but also how to destroy the only family he has left. Meanwhile, Jen’s pregnancy progresses and the fateful due date draws ever nearer. The thought of losing Decebel’s child constantly threatens to overwhelm her. With each passing day, Decebel grows more distant, causing Jen to wonder what toll the impending loss of their child is taking on him. Unbeknownst to Jen, in an act of desperation to protect his unborn child and mate, Decebel strikes a deadly bargain with the Great Luna—his life in place of his child’s. There is only one way for that to happen; the bond between he and Jen must be broken. As Jen as Decebel struggle through their darkness, another kind of darkness is infiltrating Fane’s heart. Doubts and questions linger as he tries to cope with the emotions brought on in the aftermath of Desdemona’s curse. He knows what happened wasn’t real, but still he can’t rid himself of the terrible images seared into his memory. Jacque is his light, the one who keeps the darkness at bay, yet he won’t let her inside to do just that. Sally continues to learn what it means to be a gypsy healer and Costin struggles to protect her as she runs full speed ahead to help her wolves, heedless of her own safety. She sees her best friends struggling, each enduring their own trials. She’s desperate to help them, but can she keep them safe? With all of these things hanging heavy over the heads of the Serbia and Romania packs, their attention is divided. The wolves do not even realize a threat has slowly infiltrated their midst. Will they recognize the threat in time to save the lives that precariously hang in the balance? Against this backdrop of darkness, choices will be made, fears will confronted, and the ultimate sacrifice will be made. Will the wolves stand together to defeat the threats arrayed against them, both from within and without? Will love conquer all? Or will the beleaguered wolves finally succumb to their demons?
Quinn Loftis is the author of the Elfin series and the Grey Wolves series.
Award-winning stage actress Abby Craden works in all aspects of voice-over and can be heard in numerous commercials, animation, video games, and audiobooks. AudioFile magazine has awarded her an Earphones Award as well as named her One of 2012's Best Voices.
Quinn Loftis has amazed me from her first book, Prince of Wolves, which is the first book in The Grey Wolves Series. Sacrifice of Love marks the 7th and final book to follow the characters that we have come to know and love.
With epic love stories, cruel villains, exquisite writing, and lots of humor; Quinn wraps up this series in an amazing way. If you are a fan of The Grey Wolves Series, this book is a MUST READ! If you are just now discovering Quinn, I highly recommend you read Prince of Wolves and the other 5 books that precede this one first, and then read this incredible ending!
If you have not read a Grey Wolves book yet, i'll say in the way of one of the fabulous characters, Jen, 'are you freakin' kidding me'!
As you may be able to tell I am a little bit enamoured with Ms Loftis' world of the wolves and fae! To say I was bouncing off the walls waiting for this to come out after the events of Fate and Fury would be a major understatement! How were the wolves going to react to the new evil that was around them. Well the simple answer would be in the same way they have for the past 6 books, by making me laugh out loud and cry all at the same time while frantically tapping my kindle desperate for the next page. This book though was bittersweet in that I knew that with my frantic tapping I would be nearing the end of our journey with the Grey Wolves.
I really will not say much as to the storyline, i'll leave that to Jen in another of her fantastic moments:
"Attention all clueless beings out there. Be on the lookout for crap hitting the fan in the form of a psycho warlock tossing out dark magic like it's freaking candy on Halloween, and a warlock king who suddenly got an itch up his butt to roast some trolls. These are dangerous times people and we all know what we should do during dangerous times...yes, exactly, drink more hot chocolate, use profanity when completely inappropriate and for the love of all things carnal, make babies people, or at least practice."
I am however more than delighted to note that she'll have a new series out soon called Into the Fae and that we will get the book promised for Vasile and Alina, if you don't know who they are . . . READ THE BOOKS!!!
On that note and with a heavy heart I say goodbye to the 3 girls and their mates who brightened up many hours and a huge thank you to Quinn Loftis for writing such frigging amazing books!
Quinn Loftis is amazing and that only grows with each book of hers I read! It all started with the characters from book 1 Prince of Wolves and now in Sacrifice of Love. These characters, this book has amazed and touched my heart. There should be a laughter warning because many of these characters, especially Jenn, will have you sharing your soda shower with your friends. And then there are the moments where Sacrifice of Love will redefine what sacrifice and love truly means. It is hard to imagine the wisdom, the humor and the perspective on sacrifice and love Quinn creates in this book.
You will not want to miss this!
Oh and the ending.. lets just say you won't see it coming. I know I tried!
You won't be disappointed if you get this book. In fact, i think you will find ways to gift this book to your family and friends..
I have read all of the books in this series so this is kind of a review on how I felt about the series has a whole.
I would like to say that I like the idea of this story. I read all of the books and enjoyed some parts, but as a whole I can't say I liked this series very much. My problems with it is mostly the characters. The female characters. I get the whole strong female thing or whatever, but these are some of the most annoying girls in the world. If they where real people, and I knew them, I would not be able to stay in the same room as them. They are the same person over and over again, snarky and sarcastic and think they are very funny. It didn't make a lot of sense to me that it was a big deal to be respectful to the alpha and yet they continued to be disrespectful to him, and that no one did anything about it, they just let them act like fourteen year olds. It also didn't make sense to me that after spending a short amount of time with only three girls, that every other female in the area would also take on this obnoxious persona, even the grown women. I mean these are like really old females that have had the same personality for years and all of a sudden they are all obsessed with bad sex jokes and talking at inappropriate times. And none of the jokes are funny. I didn't laugh once, out loud or in my head. There is this old rule of thumb with writing, that is show don't tell your readers and I felt like Ms. Loftis was constantly trying to tell me, actually convince me, that her characters where funny when in fact in a real situation no one would find them funny. There was also a lot of stupid things that these girls did that Ms. Loftis tried to convince me was the only solution when it clearly wasn't like Oh, Sally looks uncomfortable so I should create a distraction, and if that didn't not make enough sense, it should defiantly be that I jump up on this table and start stripping. What? That was obviously the worst idea ever but, I was being told that it was the only idea. One of the last things that I didn't like about this series, and this is more of a personal thing I think, is that every stinking person got a mate. Holy crap is there no end? Just because you introduce a character doesn't mean that you have to now make them a meaningful character. Not only did she give every person a mate, but then she had to describe how ever person was feeling in ever situation, so we read the same scene over, and over, and over again just in a different persons point of view, but it never really changes because all of her female characters are the same person. My point here is that if Quinn Loftis could learn to write a different kind of character, stop telling and start showing, and realize she's not that funny this book series could have gone very differently. I realize that most people don't agree with me, as I see this book series has got raving reviews, but this is truly how I felt about it so be cautious going into it because they truly are the most awful girls I have ever read about.Read more ›
