~~
THE MADISON KNIGHT SERIES falls neatly into the police procedural genre with murder investigations and forensics. Think Law & Order meets CSI. There is some foul language and limited graphic violence.

~~
THE BRANDON FISHER FBI SERIES toys the edge between the police procedural genre and thriller genre. Due to this, you will find foul language and graphic violence in this series.

~~
THE MCKINLEY MYSTERY SERIES ventures outside of the typical crime genre, lending itself to the cozy variety with no foul language or graphic violence. The series combines romance, mystery, humor, and adventure for a lighthearted, easy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit for Arnold! August 1, 2012
By Journey
Format:Kindle Edition
First off, I've read other books by Carolyn Arnold so I knew what to expect when I picked up this one. And I wasn't disappointed. Once again, the author delivers a solid, page-turning tale about a murder-most-foul. I appreciate the way the story opens right in the middle of the action and keeps you guessing right up to the end. If you like crime fiction that entertains you and makes you think, then Sacrifice is for you. Kudos to Carolyn Arnold for another hit!

I hadn't read a Madison Knight novel, so I wasn't sure if I would miss anything, but my concerns were unfounded. "Sacrifice" read as a standalone with enough information that I felt as though I knew Madison Knight personally, without all the unnecessary "information dump" that some authors feel they need to share.

The mystery was well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. Every time I thought I knew "whodunit", a new clue would arise which would make me doubt my investigative abilities. Though I love an unpredictable story, I hate when writers resort to trickery to conceal the suspect. Arnold's style of writing was spot-on, revealing clues as her protagonist discovered them, making me feel as if I were part of the story in search of the murderer.

One of my favorite things about Carolyn's writing was that she described the details of the homicide and gave me a behind-the-scenes look at a detective's life without resorting to graphic or vulgar writing. Kudos, Carolyn Arnold, I look forward to reading your next novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Arnolds Best Yet October 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished Carolyn Arnolds novel "Sacrifice". I rate this book as a must read. Arnold continues to be a personal favorite and only gets better at her craft.
This is the third of Carolyn Arnolds novels that I have read and I continue to be surprised at her incredible attention to detail in the "cop" world. Starting with the interpersonal relationships between partners, then dealing with the public and media and Police Departments Administrative bungling. Arnold masterfully portrays how more often than not solving a case in the real world is an incredible act of determination and stubbornness on the part of the detectives. Although Knight is a fictional character, the situations portrayed in "Sacrifice" are painfully real. Arnold then turns her critical eye to the evidence. The techniques and markers mentioned in the novel are also true to life. The constitutional issues of plain view, and fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine all are well addressed and accurately dealt with. I continue to be pleasantly amazed at her attention to detail. If you are looking for a fascinating Police procedural that is painstakingly researched and accurately portrayed look no further than Carolyn Arnolds works. The only way it gets more real than this is to leave the genre completely. 5 Stars and then some.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sacrifice (A Madison Knight Novel) May 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Her first book was OK although the two main characters had an extreme amount of insecurities about their love for each other. The remaining books in the series went too far with giving background about the previous books. Half of their "romancing" would have been enough. The Madison Knight novels did have a good story-line in each book but the main characters continual sex scenes took up too much of the story. If an author has a series, people should read from the first novel and go forward. A small amount of previous happenings is ok. I prefer mystery with some romance/sex with the characters but with a great mystery story-line.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Madison Knight Novel Yet! August 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Carolyn Arnold has done it again with her new novel in the Madison Knight series. SACRIFICE is a brilliant crime thriller with twists and turns at every corner.

The young son of a rich and influential family shows up dead and Madison Knight is called in to investigate the death. Not only is the crime considered the perfect murder, but those involved have left little evidence for her to work with and the powerful father of the victim puts his own reputation ahead of his son's murder, hampering the investigation. Knight must also battle her own Chief of Police as he suspiciously attempts to control the investigation with an agenda Madison can only guess at.

Arnold weaves an intricate story line with a cast of memorable characters and leaves the reader eager to turn the page as the corruption and greed within the Stiles community forces Knight to question everyone she knows. Could her own Chief be involved? Does her new found lover have a past which could compromise their relationship and her investigation? These questions and more only succeed in throwing more fuel on the fire that is Madison Knight. She will not be stopped.

Carolyn Arnold knows how to tell a story and create characters who are believable and charismatic. With every new book, I find myself growing more fond of Madison Knight's unwavering resolve and uncanny ability to sniff out a rat. Nothing escapes her scrutiny.

Don't miss out on the best Madison Knight novel to date. I highly recommend it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The series just keeps getting better! September 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the third Madison Knight book I have read and they keep getting better (if that is even possible). Not satisfied just to bring in an excellent murder mystery, Carolyn Arnold has sweetened the pot this time with a side mystery involving counterfeiting. Great writing, continually developing characters and strong mysteries are becoming the hallmark of Ms. Arnold's Knight series. I may have said it before but I can't wait for the next book in the series!
