Usually, "dual jewel" packs contain games of a similar genre. Both Messiah and Sacrifice straddle multiple genres.

Messiah is primarily a shooter game, akin to Doom. You control Bob, a not-so-innocent angel on a mission from God to teach humanity who's the boss. Being nearly defenseless, you possess other characters, and this adds a puzzle element to things. You have to figure out who to possess where.

Gamers hoping for lots of blood and gore should note that this is the "low-violence" version of Messiah. People have been turned into cyborgs, they bleed oil and green goo. No decapitation or dismemberment, no flame thrower. Also, some music has been removed. Finally, I have been unable to get the sound effects to work on my Windows XP system. Graphics are okay, but not great.

Overall, I give Messiah a 3 out of 5.

Sacrifice is primarily a real time strategy game with some role-playing elements. Think of a cross between Black & White and the Dungeon Keeper series. It has some of the strong story elements from Black & White that are often missing from RTS games. In addition to the regular single-player campaign, you can also choose player vs. computer and multiplayer contests.

In the campaign, you play Eldred, a wizard who in each episode chooses to serve his choice of one of the five gods (who vary in goodness/evilness and in other personality characteristics). You must carry out your chosen god's task (often confronting the forces of another god). You gain different spells and can summon different creatures based upon which god you chose. You can switch choices between episodes.

I was impressed with the graphics, story, and gameplay of sacrifice. The selection of spells and creatures is somewhat limited however. Overall, I give Sacrifice a 4 out of 5.

Combined rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars. I'll bump that up to 4 stars because of the bargain-bin price.

Your Bob... a cute little angel. You are dropped to earth to save it's people but you must use it's people to do so. You can posses any living thing, giving you full control of their capabilities. Besides being a great 3rd person shooter, there is a very strong puzzle base to the game.

An extremely overlooked game. Very nice graphics even by 2002 standards. It takes good advantage of my Nvidea TI4200.

Search with google or some other website for Sacrifice Shiny and review to learn more about this game.

I haven't played Messiah yet but it looks pretty nice.
