Product Description

Product Description

Pro-Tec S.I. Back Belt features a sacroiliac compression pad for targeted pain relief. Sitting or standing for long periods of time can often cause sacroiliac joint syndrome (the strain or tearing of the S.I. joint ligaments), which you may call lower back pain. The ingenuity of this wraparound back support is a removable pad that provides compression right on your sacroiliac joint, the connection between your tailbone (sacrum) and pelvic bone (ilium), so the hips and sacrum become more stable, releasing muscle tension and reducing pain-causing strain to the lower back. Adjustable tension straps let you customize the compression on your S.I. joint. Thanks to strategically placed non-slip silicone gel strips, the contoured, low profile belt stays in place and you can comfortably wear under clothing… all day! Would recommend to anyone who needs lower back support.

First off, it has no elastic, so the pressure is only what you can make the belt buckle hold.

I got a small based on their sizing and I couldn't secure it because it was too small.

In Oct. 0f 2011 my hip and lower back began to hurt severely. I am a competitive distance runner and very active. I have tried Chiropractors, Inverson, Regular Doctor, Steroids, Orthos, PT, Trigger Point Masssage Therapy and stretching. None of this gave me any relief. The sciatic pain is terrible.
I do not want to quit searching for answers though as I enjoy being active and love running. I bought this belt with very little hope. I read the reviews and bought a large based on my 36" waist. The large is probably too big but I figured out a way to make it fit.
I purchased this one because of reviews and the size. I intended to wear it under my work clothes as I own an advertising agency and do not want to walk around with a black belt around my pants. The product is relatively comfortable. It is a little itchy as it hugs the skin. I suspect I will be a little raw because of this.
I have zero pain though. This is day one, so I do not want to get ahead of myself. I ran this morning without the belt and after showering put it on. I have been pair free all day. This seems like it is too good to be true. I will repost after another week or two because I am sure that others like me are looking for anything to help us gain an edge on this pain.
For the record, my problems with my back/hip are:
1) Herniated Disc at L5-S1
2) Torn Labrum in my hip.
I have no idea which of these issues is causing the pain and I have no intention of surgery for either issue unless it becomes unbearable. I suspect the Labrum is the source of my pain but it could be a combo. (I have had MRI's to confirm both).
My best advise is to try this or any other thing that may help. Do not give up or give in regardless of what the doctors say. They are not always right especially when it comes to the spine or hip.

I was first prescribed a sacroiliac belt by my orthopedic doctor several years ago. I've replaced it several times with various belts from pharmacies and online stores, and this is the best one I've found. I have pain in my left hip from arthritis in my sacroiliac joint, and when it flares up, this belt makes the pain go away and allows the joint to heal. I do find that I have to wear it next to my skin to keep it from riding up, and wearing it next to my skin can cause a little irritation around the top of the belt on the sides of my hips. To stop this, I cut two small strips of flannel, and I place them between the belt and my skin along the top of the belt over each hip.

This belt is helping with my residual hip pain post operation. When I received the belt, the first thing that I noticed is how small it is. I normally wear size 2-4 women's and it barely fits. Pay attention to the dimensions given on the description and measure before you buy. The belt is great quality, and I think it will last for a long time. I have recommended this belt to my friends. The price is great!

I am on my 2nd belt. It helps keep my SI joint in place when I walk.
There is only one thing I would liked to have known before I bought it. I did not know which size to get (med or large). I wish they would put measurements for each size. I got a lg, but think it is too big. I was afraid to get a med from the information with the ad.
Otherwise I think this is a great product.

I am a figure skater and I have inflammation in my SI joint periodically, which makes skating impossible due to pain. After finishing a course of meds, and still having pain, I thought I'd try some other approaches. I got this belt and immediately felt the relief - just having the compression in the right spot was nice. I was able to skate for an hour- jumps and all with very minimal pain. Best part- it didn't ride up, it fits beneath my clothes and is mostly invisible. This is definitely worth the money if you are looking for SI joint pain and still want to maintain an active lifestyle.

I have a L5/S1 degeneration of my spine, which causes me to experience sciatica. I tried back braces, but they do not go low enough to brace that area. I decided to try an SI belt, and this belt has made me pain free enough to play golf with no pain.. no pain in the back .... no sciatica. I place the pad over clothing on the side of the degeneration, and am good to go. The buckle is more to the side than the middle (can't feel it) and it does not ride up, two issues brought up by other reviews. I have a medium belt, and it is almost too tight (clothes size 8-10), but I think a large would be too big. An excellent item for low back pain support.

I have a serola belt but thought I'd try this because of the pad, hoping for extra support because the serola provides a lot of hip compression but doesn't support my sacrum enough. Nope. The tension straps are too short--they don't create pressure on the pad to support you. In fact, I can barely tell the difference even when I pull them as far as possible. Compared to the serola belt it feels like I'm wearing nothing. If you need support while sitting you might like it--I notice the pad more then and it feels good while leaning back against something (though you could probably rig something else up for a lower price). This is the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. I need support while walking and this doesn't do it.
