3.0 out of 5 stars Not Exactly The Heat I Was Expecting.
I have to hand it to Slug & Ant for turning out such a diverse set of EP releases as of late. "Sad Clown Bad Summer", "Fall" & "Winter" (still waiting on "Spring") are as interesting as they are dissimilar. "Summer" is by far my favorite, and it stands in stark contrast to "Winter". The vibe is fitting overall. It boasts a darker, more electronic soundscape. "Winter" is reminiscent of the short, dreary days that inspired this EP.

"Don't Stop" kicks off the EP, and for a second there, I thought I put in a Rush CD - as Ant's beat sound's a lot like "Tom Sawyer". It boasts a more electronic/industrial vibe that works fairly decent with Slug's darker set of lyrics. Not a bad opener. "66th Street" stands as one of the stronger cuts here. A nice funky-driven guitar lick and a some clever lyrics from Slug keeps it driving. "They All Get Mad At You" takes off with a dirty, menacing (and somewhat boring) beat. Personally, I'm not feeling the aggressiveness of the track. "Beautiful" doesn't quite serve it's title. The song is well-constructed, but is easily the most forgettable on the CD. "Ha, This One Is About Alcohol Too" is my favorite joint here. The beat is bouncy and memorable, and Slug's lyrics are excellent.

Overall, this installment lacks infectious choruses (see "Summer" for the best hooks). It also lacks replay value. I've played it 4 times and it's not really "growing on me" at all. Overall, I'm not really digging the vibe that is being expressed here. Ant is better serving a soulful platter of wax like he pumped out on the "Summer" installment. That's just one reviewers opinion though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid EP but nothing spectacular, January 1, 2008
This review is from: Sad Clown Bad Winter #11 (Audio CD)
Quality beats are for sure used here but to some it may be either hit or miss.

It starts out with a dragged out beat that is either addicting to some and annoying to others. I personally think it works nicely.

66th Street is a laid back uptempo vibe. Solid song. Slug rides with the beat nicely

My personal favorite of this short album is "They all get mad you". Fast uptempo drama-heavy beat. Like the concept as well.

Beautiful is a very boring beat (rare from ANT) and will probably get skipped often by listeners.

Ha, This one is about alocohol too is a nice vibing song that is calm but comes along nicely with the background bouncing sounds. May get boring after awhile, but it still nicely done.

I would give this EP 3.5 but I will round up and give them a 4 since the music is quality and lyrics are on point. it is just this one may be the least one played in the Season EP series.
