A great lesson for children,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sad Mrs. Sam Sack (Library Binding)
I had this book when I was a child, a long time ago, and I have never forgotten it. In fact, even though I haven't seen the book for 25 years, I still tell the story of Sad Mrs. Sam Sack to the children in my life. The story of Mrs. Sam Sack teaches the reader a simple lesson of how your own perceptions can affect your happiness. Sad Mrs. Sam Sack is unhappy with something in her life, and solicits the help of a wise old man. He has her make many ridiculous changes to satisfy her desperate desire to have more than she does. These changes only serve to finally help her see that what she has is no only quite sufficient but wonderful. So, as with all good children's books, Sad Mrs. Sam Sack is sad no more. The lesson here is that nothing in her life changes except her own perception of what makes her happy. Families today are so surrounded by material excess, it is easy to fall into the same trap as Mrs. Sam Sack. Fortunately, it is just as easy to change your perceptions and realize how wonderful life really is - as it is. If you or your family are chasing unrealistic rainbows trying to meet society's view of "perfection", try this memorable little gem on for size.
