5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, too bad the band broke up., August 20, 2000
By A Customer
The Sad Realm of the Stars is the only album released by the now nonexistent band Odium. And what a great album it is. 9 tracks of melodic, keyboard rich black metal played viciously by these Norwegian gods of extreme metal. The best song is probably "Towards the Forest Horizon", a beautiful piece of epic black metal. Though, the other songs are also very well written and played. If you are into Black Metal, especially the melodic aspect of this, pick this CD up NOW! (Former Odium members are now playing in the band Myrkskog.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Yet another epic keyboard-laden black metal band, September 13, 2003
By "organgrinderlv" (Sin City, NV) - See all my reviews
This album is solid the whole way through, and if you are a huge fan of lesser-known keyboardy bands like Negura Bunget, Celestia, Nokturnal Mortem, and Blood Stained Dusk; this is another album you're sure to lap up and love. For others, it will be hated for not being true. For people who judge music based on album covers, it's like Limbonic Art, because it's the same cover artist. For those who listen to music for creativity and a sense of wonder at comtemplative dark majesty, it certainly lacks much creativity, but it also has a definite strain of majestic epic starry black metal that while formulaeic, cannot be passed over without some token praise. At least there's no silly gothic poetry or bad female falsettos. It's decent. It's epic black metal to be sure. But that's all. It's not all that great as epic black metal bands go.
