I have one of these, and here are some details other reviews miss.

The stitching is thick paracord, the leather is full grain and cured completely. The interior is lined with Pigskin, and the exterior shines with more and more patina the longer you use the bag. There is no such thing as "Oh no, I ruined my bag!" with a Saddleback: Each scar or scuff adds character, and deepens the appeal.

Highly recommend checking it out. You can see pictures of mine at weftyandmash dot com

Great stuff! Excellent customer service dept. Bag was in excellent condition when it arrived, but I had to return it as it was too small, in exchange for the Large Coffee. Doing so invoked the Italian customs genie who further pummelled my already depleted funds. The bag is great. One of a kind, which justifies the huge amount of VAT and import duty.

This is a nice bag. It's tough. You can throw it in front of a speeding train and it will survive (the contents of the bag probably won't though).

If you live in a humid environment, you need to use it everyday or store it in a room with a good dehumidifier. Otherwise, this bag will get moldy really fast.

This bag is heavy. It's not for people who complain about carrying things. If you're the type of person who will complain about heavy bags, don't buy this bag. Get a bag with wheels.

One more thing, I don't recommend using the backpack mode too often as it can lead to scoliosis due to the odd weight distribution. I used to use this bag in backpack mode all the time. Then my doctor found that my spine was slightly curved. Ever since I stopped using this bag, my spine has recovered.

BTW, this bag has a 100-year warranty. And the customer service people of the company are really nice.

After six months of daily use, I am still in love with my dark coffee brown medium classic briefcase by Saddleback Leather. I have since ordered the Saddleback Leather Waterbag Medium to use on longer trips.

My previous leather briefcase (NOT Saddleback Leather), really wore out after five or six years of use. The handle fell to pieces and the stitching came apart. It looked terrible. I had read about Saddleback Leather online and had a co-worker show me his carbon black classic briefcase. I liked the look and was impressed with the quality.

The Saddleback Leather classic briefcase, as others have mentioned, is solidly built. I am confident that this briefcase will last me years and years and years. The handle feels like a massive piece of leather and the hardware, including rivets and D rings, is very sturdy. This briefcase really feels like it is built like a tank and built to last. When seen and inspected in person, it feels rugged and reeks of quality.

The inside of the briefcase has two large compartments - I fit the new iPad (in Saddleback Leather's iPad 2 case, which also fits the new iPad) and a leather notepad (Saddleback Leather's medium notepad - it's freaking huge for a notepad) in one compartment and water bottles, an umbrella, my lunch, and a small hardcover notebook in the other. The medium sized classic briefcase is a little on the small size for carrying a small laptop - if I was to carry a laptop I would consider either the large classic briefcase instead of the medium or perhaps the thin briefcase in a larger size. There are two interior pockets, one on each side of the briefcase. I use one of these for a small flashlight.

First and foremost, Saddleback Leather was very responsive to my questions. The case arrived within a few days.

My last briefcase lasted a good eight years. It was sold by Rawlings and carried the Rawlings logo. It was made from the same leather they use in their baseball gloves. I truly loved that briefcase. Unfortunately, the handle was cheap leather encasing cardboard. Cardboard! Ralwings would not repair the handle since they no longer manufacturer the briefcase.

My office has glass walls. I thoughtlessly set my new Saddleback Leather briefcase in clear view of the office on day one. It's been under my desk since day two. Too many colleagues were distracting me by casually walking into my office on day one to inquire about the heavy duty leather case with solid chrome D rings. It's a Fort Worth, Texas thing. The leather is the same quality level found in my Circle Y saddles and Justin boots. The stitching appears to be better than my similarly priced, custom made Wesco boots.

Texas leather craftsmanship at its best! They would fight over this case if I die tomorrow.

I'm now sold on the Saddleback Leather brand! My next purchase will be the classic travel case followed by the eventual iPad 3 case.

When I first got it I was upset because I felt like I ordered one that was too small for me. But as I got used to it I found I ordered the right size.

A lot of people complain it's heavy. Of course it is, it's good leather! I like that it's heavy. Makes me feel like I own a nice, sturdy bag.

Great bag, all the way.
