Product Description

It will be the longest lasting wallet you'll ever own and will get better with each year of use. It's nothing fancy. It doesn't have a window for your drivers license and it there's no plastic spare key holder. It's just a very solid wallet made with leather from the top of the hide called full grain where the fibers are the most tightly woven together. It will be the last wallet you'll ever own.

I bought this wallet in March of 2011 with a gift card I received for my birthday. I read all the reviews here and on the Manufacturer's site before making the purchase. I read all the comments about the wallet being too thick to work effectively and the problems with breaking cards. I still wanted to give it a try. Well, I got it and carried it for 4 or 5 months and it did not break in enough to keep from breaking the cards in the slots. I contacted the manufacturer's customer service and asked what I could do to get some relief from the problem because I loved the wallet so much I wanted to keep carrying it. They informed me that the wallet design had been tweaked and improved to solve this problem and the shipped me a replacement at no charge. I have been carrying the replacement and not suffered any damage to the cards I carry. I HIGHLY recommend this wallet if you like leather bi-fold wallets. I expect it to last me a VERY long time... and KUDOS to Saddleback Leather Customer Service! They went above and beyond. That's so uncommon these days... I'm a very happy camper!

I own a lot of Saddleback gear (Thin briefcase, belt, card holder, ipad case), but this wallet totally missed the mark for me.
The quality is typical Saddleback, fantastic. Built to last.

Problem is, even though I had the latest model (2013), it is STILL breaking cards! This wallet had no more than 6 cards, and after a month or so, both of my debit cards developed lateral cracks in them, which eventually led to them in two pieces.

I carry my wallet in my back pocket, and it looks like the cause of this is the thick leather overlapping the card slots, putting unnecessary pressure on the pinch point if you sit on your wallet. I really wanted to have better luck with this, but it didn't work out.

Customer service was great as always and offered a full refund.

Some may consider the unloaded thickness of the leather a con, but I find the wallet fits comfortably in my pocket. (One should not have their wallet in their back pocket for health reasons, those that ignore the health consequences of sitting on a wallet will notice this is thick.

100% leather & parachute thread. I could not find a cloth lining, piece of plastic, or fabric anything. As a result the pockets are thick. When viewed on its side axis from the spine, the leather meets in an hourglass arrangement as a consequence of ascending pockets culminating at the middle. This goes away after use and becomes more flat but one should expect 1-2 months in pocket to obtain optimally flat lay.

Each card pocket grabs the card very tight. I had to rotate three cards into my frequent use pocket for two weeks (debit card) so I was not struggling to remove it. It loosened it barely enough to make the card more accessible. This tight grip means if I turn and open my wallet upside down and shake it all cards stay firmly in place. One should not have concerns about cards slipping out / the upward facing layout.

The two inner facing pockets beneath the credit card slots can hide a high bill and are perfect for folding up a few checks. Also a tight fit, with the inner facing direction, nothing can possibly fall out of these two inner sections. I was able to work in 8 cards on one of these pockets and I might have done more if I decided to stretch a pocket over a few weeks fully loaded.

U.S. bulls fit with about two inches to spare if unfolded in the cash slot. Because the leather is stiff due to its thickness, this extra space makes addressing and storing the builds much easier.

This is the newer model wallet and its not as thick as I expected when reading the other reviews. The problem lies within using the individual CC pouches since it pushes out the one layer of leather into multiple layers. My solution was to use only 2 of the 3 CC slots on both sides which left me with a wallet that was not too thick. The DCB leather scratches easily though so get yourself a bottle of leather milk or something to touch up the scratches when it does occur.

I have had this wallet for about a week now and its very nice quality. its pretty big but not too bad. My previous wallet was by "big skinny" so i was used to a super thin wallet, but so far I like this one much better. The cards and money are very hard to take in and out of this wallet, but I know it should break-in eventually. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars ins tread of 5. If my opinion changes I will come back and change this review.

Update: 1 month in with this wallet and it gets better and better every day. It has molded nicely and is not nearly as fat as it was when I first got it. I have not had any cards break, like I have seen in other reviews. If you are contemplating buying a product from Saddleback Leather then I suggest you go to their website and read their story. Awesome company. I love showing off my wallet. The Saddleback logo and "Blue" (his dog) on the inside of the wallet are very cool touches.

I ordered this to replace my aging Lord Buxton wallet, which was beginning to fall apart after serving me faithfully through two deployments. I normally carry a bi-fold wallet with ID card holder, so at first I was a little leery of using a wallet without a dedicated ID card holder. After watching the videos and reading the reviews, I decided to give this one a try, in Dark Coffee Brown.

1. Initial Impressions: Right out of the package, this wallet is well made, but pretty stiff due to the thickness of the leather. If you are used to buying the "pre-softened" wallets at the local Wal-Mart, be prepared: this wallet is a different experience. The Saddleback logo is stamped in the lower right front corner, large enough to read, but small enough to be tasteful. A representation of the owner's dog, Blue, is stamped in the inside lower right front corner as a tribute, which is a nice personal touch. All of the stitching is solid, with no loose threads or unraveling knots. It is obvious, at first glance, that this is a rugged man's wallet that is built to last

2. First Use: The description states that the wallet will hold up to 18 cards, 9 on each side. That does not mean that there are 18 separate card holders. There are three card holders on each side that will hold 3 cards each. The card pockets are deep, and about 7/8ths of the cards are hidden inside the pockets. In addition, there is one pocket behind the card holders on each side, as well as the main cash pocket. I currently have 2 cards in each left-side pocket, and on the right side I have my military ID card in one pocket, driver's license, military driver's license, and insurance cards in the 2nd pocket, and my concealed carry license in the third pocket.
