More About the Author

Over the last 25 years of my career, I have been fortunate enough to be part of 2 Pulitzer Prizes and have done Corporate and Editorial photography as a freelancer and on staff at Newspapers and Magazines such as National Geographic,The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Louisville Courier-Journal and The Orange County Register.

I have covered many of the major news events during that time from the Olympics in Los Angeles and Seoul to the Persian Gulf War, Presidential elections, major sporting championships and exploring the Arctic for National Geographic.

My current work includes annual reports, editorial, advertising, application briefs, manufacturing illustration, executive portraits, corporate event & public relations.

What many of my co-workers may not know is that I was also fortunate to be part of the horse show world in my younger years, riding and showing American Saddlebred horses. That love of horses is what got me started in my photography career...taking photos at horse shows and working with the horse publications to get the images in print. In 1991, on the 100th annivesary of the saddlebred breed, I was fortunate enough to work with tow great people, Judy Oetinger Fisher and Bill Strode to take photos for the coffe table book: The Saddlebred: America's Horse of Distinction.

We are excited to be producing a second edition of the book with the help of Carol Butler of Butler Books in Loiusville KY to be bringing out this update book with some new images, updated statistics and some design improvements to make the book even better! We hope that you might find it a nice holiday gift to clients, friends or family.

This review is from: The Saddlebred: America's Horse of Distinction (Hardcover)
The pictures in this book are quiet gorgeous, and the Family Tree lines impressive.

The history compiled within this book is equally impressive spanning over more than 400 years.

This book gives you an overview of The Saddlebred Breed and its background as well as it's uses in society. I would classify this book as a History of the Saddlebred if you will.

When I purchased this book, I was looking for a book that would not only tell me more about the breed itself, but how to work with as well as train this type of horse. I was also interested in learning more about the general characteristics, personality, habits & riding styles of this breed, more that the actual history.

This is an excellent "coffee table" book for horse lovers. I personally was looking for a book that contained more day to day information about the breed, although I did find the material in the book very interesting and somewhat helpful.
