The horses in this book are just window dressing, which was disappointing. Early on, the author makes a big deal out of the heroine's young stud colt, and then the horse isn't mentioned again. The heroine also feeds dry bran to said stud colt after he colics - on her vet's advice. If you are not a horseperson, then I'm not going to explain the absolute stupidity of doing something like that, trust me, no one running a breeding/training facility would be that ignorant. That said, the plot was OK, but real horse knowledge seems to be lacking on the author's part. Maybe she should stick to wine-themed mysteries?

Saddled With Trouble was filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing "who is the bad guy". Ranch owner and horse trainer, Michaela Bancroft, finds her uncle murdered. The list of possible suspects is almost as long as the book, but all of them seem like possible suspects. We follow Michaela trying to track down clues much to the chagrin of handsome detective Jude Davis. This is a well-written series because now I can't wait for the next book just to see how Michaela and Davis' relationship will progress. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast-paced whodunit with a little romance thrown in.

I received a free copy of this book in order to review it.

Michaela Bancroft is a horse trainer in California. Her husband is divorcing her for a younger woman with whom he had an affair. To top it all off, Michaela finds her Uncle Lou murdered when he didn't show up for their breakfast meeting. Who could have done such a thing?

Soon Michaela is embroiled in finding the killer. Plus her aunt asks her to look into a problem with the artificial insemination program her uncle was running for horses.

Michaela isn't sure who to trust any more. The more she looks into things, the more she realizes who had possible motives.

Her father has gotten himself into big trouble with gambling. Michaela works to help him get out of trouble without losing the family ranch.

Can she figure out who killed her uncle without putting herself in danger?

I really enjoyed this book. You don't have to be a horse lover to enjoy it. It is so well written. It is a great cozy and you'll find yourself picking it back up constantly to finish it.

There are so many wonderful red herrings that it will keep you guessing until the end. Terrific plot and characters really add to the reading experience. I highly recommend this book.

Though an enjoyable story, this book, like others by this author, is full of spelling and grammatical errors that give the book an amateurish feel. It's OK for a $.99 Kindle book, but I wouldn't pay more for a print edition.

I was given this copy to review.
This is the first in what looks like a series. Michaela is a horse trainer having money and man trouble. She finds her uncle murdered in his barn early one morning. She tries solving the case, finding out things that make everyone around her look like a suspect from her father to her best friend. She keeps leaping to the wrong conclusions. She reminded me a little of Nancy Drew.
There is a cute detective Davis who is on the case. Michaela ignores his advice and get herself in hot water with the real thief and killer.
I really enjoyed the horse and ranch scenes
This book is a "who done it" - worth reading. - I will buy the rest in the series.

I expected a good read with a lot of horse stuff thrown in, but was disappointed. I felt the characters weren't properly introduced either--characterization was needed before the poorly written plot. There has to be better mystery horse stories out there--this isn't one of them.

A murder amongst equestrians with heartache, philandering husbands and untrustworthy neighbours thrown in for free. It is an ok read, but nothing spectacular. I found the dialogue a little B movie and overly dramatic. If your just looking for a quick umcomplicated read then it is probably perfect. One thing I did find a tad irritating was the fact that two characters, Sam and Dwayne, spoke in a dialect/drawl, but for some reason that dialect barred them from speaking in correctly formulated sentences. Assuming the characters all live in the same area, why are they the only two that are linguistically challenged. I received a free copy of this book for my review.

I have read a few books by this author now, and have really enjoyed each one. They are all different. No cookie cutter books here.

I loved Michaela, loved Jude, and the budding relationship between them. Michaela is funny, smart, and brave. The supporting characters were well done, and I felt that all were great additions to the story.

The plot was well done. There were plenty of suspects in the murder, and the story unfolded so nicely. This was a really pleasant read, and I needed to get to the end to see how it would all turn out.

This was a really well written novel, with a tight story. A really enjoyable way to spend a few hours!

I received a complimentary copy of the novel in order to review.
By now, when I see an invitation to review any novel by this author, I jump on it. I have never been disappointed!
