Sade Delivers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sade - Lovers Live (DVD)
An AWESOME concert! Sade is beautiful and commands the viewer to watch every move she makes. Now I know why the audience on the live CD sounds like they're going crazy. TAKE A LOOK!There are wonderful DVD exclusives. -Backstage footage, a music video type documentary cut to a remix of "By Your Side". It's a real nice thing to see the band have unity & love beyond the stage. -Message to Sade, a real hilarious look at Sade fans directed by the Polish Brothers. Sade should come out more often. These people are NUTS! It's a great piece to have on a DVD because it shows how Sade affects her fans & how sincere her fans are. -B&W photographs, I wish there were more! They should have made a music video with these stills. -King of Sorrow Video, sexy-sexy-sexy. The best Sade video from Sophie Muller. This alone is worth the DVD. SADE LOVERS LIVE is a truly a wonderful DVD, Sade embraces her fans and delivers a concert of honesty and respect.

Sade is as enchanting as ever in this excellent follow-up to the first concert DVD ("Sade Live"). This performance, which was filmed in September of 2001 at two SoCal venues, proves that after eight years, the attraction of Sade herself is just as strong as her music. At just under two hours, you get a comprehensive show: 22 songs, with ten from the latest "Lovers Rock" CD. The remaining twelve are all favorite hits from Sade's previous four albums. Sound-wise, everything sounds great, and you can select from either stereo or 5.1 Surround Sound to suit your tastes. The band plays really tight, and there are some nice surprises, such as a cool intro to "Sweetest Taboo" and a funky/rock version of "Paradise" (check out the choreography). Visually, you see lots of Sade (a good thing), yet the camera time spent on her and the rest of the band is fairly balanced. I loved the editing since I was watching what I wanted to see pretty much most of the time. The lighting for this tour is somewhat more interesting than the last, and the use of the video screen in back of the stage adds some pizzazz, especially the film of water dropping in synch with key accented beats in "Somebody Already Broke My Heart." The camera work and editing are superb. Even the credit track is awesome, with some really touching footage of the audience. DVD Extras: 1) behind-the-scenes video (pretty funny) of the band members dancing and mugging for the camera; 2) Sade, behind-the-scenes; 3) concertgoers' "messages to Sade"; and 4) excellent "King of Sorrow" video, directed by Sophie Muller and filmed in Puerto Rico.

Sade the Smooth Performer,

I have been a devoted fan of Sade and her band since they first entered the scene in 1985. Her music has always been a romantic inspiration of the way love should be. In 1994 I had the pleasure of seeing her live for the first time. It was truly a mesmerizing experience. Enter 2001. Her first tour in seven years in support of an amazing CD. Even after the hiatus, Sade proved to me not only once in concert, but twice that she is not only as great as she was live in 1994, but has actually improved. She captivated the audience and this reviewer for almost 2 hours. And she accomplished this with none of the glitz that surround most of the other current performers that claim to be Divas. If a diva is defined by Talent and the ability to communicate to an audience, then Sade is truly a DIVA.

Good but not Exceptional,

I waited in anticipation for this DVD but to be honest I'm disappointed with it. While its great to see another live concert from Sade this performance pales in comparison to the Sade Live DVD. The staging of Sade Live is better, the band have more charisma and energy and the recording quality is better. If you are getting one Sade DVD get "Sade Live" which includes much of the material on this release and captures a far more engaging stage peformance in my opinion.

The greatest live performance I've heard,

Let's be honest! For me the only problem with this live performance is that it's too good! The live versions of her songs are so good that the studio versions from her though excellent albums will appear bland to you compared to these live recordings.
Unsurprisingly, the selection of songs, well-balanced between her classic hits and the songs from "Lovers Rock", is top-notch. I won't quote a song in particular because I love them all. The musicians are really amazing, so is the backup singer too (what an incredible voice! he would deserve to make a solo career, truly!) but of course what is the most worthy here is Sade Adu herself! As classy, elegant and seductive as ever, she's a real diva, in the noble sense of the term. Her voice is like no other, and is so emotional. Her musical style is simply unique, blending soul, pop, smooth jazz, funk with latin, carribean or even reggae influences. One can see thanks to the DVD format that she doesn't seem to be cold like the media say, she seems very generous with her audience. By the way I have to say I loved her dance steps in "The Sweetest Taboo". To me Sade is one of the best artists ever! This live DVD is definitely to check if you are a Sade fan. It's my favorite live recording (Maxwell comes 2nd with his MTV Unplugged)

One Of The Very Best,

I am so glad I bought this DVD. Of my DVD collection, I place Sade right up there with Patti Labelle's "One Night Only" DVD (in which I also highly recommend). Sade's performance is simply outstanding, perhaps the best I've ever seen. She never misses a beat. And her band is equally as great. So if you love R&B and jazz, then this DVD is a must for your collection. And if you like Sade, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The CD is what got me,
This review is from: Sade - Lovers Live (DVD)
Just like another poster after listening to the cd audience I wanted to see what they were so excited about. Again Sade shows and proves. I saw her live years ago and it was a terrific experience. I like this DVD better than the first one. Perhaps with age, birth of a child and wisdom, Sade is just mesmerizing. I wish I could be so smooth and move as gracefully as she does in daily life. Her dance movements are just so classy and elegant yet sexy as they come. Of course, Sweetback is outstanding as expected. This one should be in your collection. I am either watching it once a month and defintely keep the CD close by at all times.

An Incredible Concert DVD!!!,

This review is from: Sade - Lovers Live (DVD)
I was very impressed with the DVD, "Lovers Live" by the incomparable Sade. Sade and her bandmates performed all of their greatest hits as well as material from her latest album, "Lovers Rock." Sade never fails to disappoint, and this was my first opportunity to see her sing live. Her voice is just as velvety smooth as it is on her CDs! Along with the almost two hours of concert footage, there are also some behind-the-scenes moments that people in the audience never got to see.I would highly suggest this DVD to any fan of Sade, but I would also suggest it to people who have a great love of incredible music and would like to just sit back, relax, and enjoy one of the greatest bands, and singers, in the world!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!

Do to the lack of info about this preorder I went to Sade online.com to get this little info It sounds great and I will be ordering it.Quote from web site below "After an eight-year hiatus, sade made a triumphant return in the summer of 2001 with her album lovers rock and sold-out american tour of the same name. That magic is now captured on lovers live, a live album and accompanying dvd and vhs that feature highlights from last year's tour and includes new songs as well as classic hits such as "is it a crime", "sweetest taboo" and "smooth operator." Lovers live is released on cd in the US on the 4th february with the dvd following on the 26th. in the uk both the cd and dvd will be in stores on the 18th of february. |
