Editorial Reviews

Review

"Sadie is an intriguing read from the first paragraph, gripping readers and pulling them right into the story...A great read for lovers of mystery, adventure, law enforcement stories, romance and Mormon subjects...Sadie keeps readers on the edge of their seats until the very last word." - Deseret News

"The personalities of the four friends are fresh and alive. They form a protective shield for Sadie...One of them catches her eye, and I have to say, he was my favorite character. He was stalwart, strong, and a real gentleman, and it was easy to root for him throughout the book." - Tristi Pinkston, author

This was a well-written story of Sadie, a girl who seems to have it all (handsome, multi-million dollar boyfriend, popularity, beauty), but within the first few pages, everything seems to unravel. She is beaten by her boyfriend and locked up when he thinks she has betrayed him; escaping out a window, she flees for her life and is found half dead and frozen by 4 young men on a ski trip for Christmas break. This story was gripping and held my interest to the end as Sadie struggles to decide whether to go back to the abusive boyfriend or not--and her new friends strive to talk sense into her head. The characters, especially Sadie and Josh, were amazing. I loved them and felt like they were my friends by the end. The author did a great job of creating tension and emotional heartbreak as the characters battled to overcome prejudice, fears, and judgment. Fantastic read--best so far in my summer list. I will definitely read more by Belliston.

This is a beautifully woven story of a young woman in search of truth and a meaningful life. Sadie is torn between what she thought her life was going to be, a life of opulence and adoration, and what her heart really wants, a life of true love and devotion. Through horrific circumstances, she finally learns that the former life was just an illusion and that the truth is borne by her one true love. This is one of those stories that absorbs you from the beginning, making you know and love the characters (and making you hate some), keeping you up reading until the wee hours of the morning. It is a story I can't quit thinking about. I'm so looking forward to a sequel to find out what Sadie's future has in store for her!

I'll call it a romantic thriller. It's about a girl who has it all, loses it all, and then realizes what she thought was "everything" may not be all it's cracked up to be. The characters are interesting and well rounded, likeable and sometimes a bit quirky, which makes them realistic. The narrative is funny, lively and fresh. It's definitely a page turner, and the action was pleasantly unpredictable, which is always wonderful! If you are looking for a book that you won't be able to put down until it's done, this book is for you!

If you want a book with all the good stuff-mystery, romance and adventure, then this is the book for you. It's clean-no sex and language. I couldn't put it down and I keep waiting for this author to write more.

I totally enjoyed being submerged in this story. The author has a gift of description so that while reading you can completely visualize the characters. I am looking forward to reading more if Rebecca Belliston's books, starting with Augustina.

I really enjoyed this book. A great mix of adventure and romance, it’s engaging and unpredictable to the end. The plot was well developed and the characters compelling and believable, which can be hard to find in LDS fiction. I’d love to see more by this author!
