About the Author

Dr. Cowan is a pediatrician who trained and practiced for many years at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston where she remains on staff. She is married and has three children all of whom have refused to eat or drink because of a sore throat! Dr. Cowan understands that children are often frightened and upset when they are sick, and she writes to entertain, educate and comfort them. She writes with gentle humor and encouragement, and she shows the children that there is nothing to be scared of --even if they have to go to the doctor for a throat culture!

I used this book to relief my 5 year old son's anxiety of going to the doctor. The animals characters are helped him see that they need to trust the doctor and take their medicine to get better. My son said, "doctors make us feel better".

I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE the Dr. Hippo series of books! They are a must have for any parent or those who care for young children.

The stories are easy to read and understand for children. The artwork is colorful, cheery and adoable.

I found the parent information section in the back pocket a must have. I learn a lot about everyday ailments that I never knew before.

I love these books!
