Book Description

June 15, 1998
First published in 1907, this underground English classic thrills the senses with the bawdy adventures of young Cecil Prendergast. Away at Oxford, the young man succumbs to the erotic allure of the domineering Mrs. Harcourt, and under her expert tutelage, he embraces the sensuous arts of both submission under his teacher and domination over the adventurous young lasses Mrs. Harcourt brings him.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Erotic English Classic, January 18, 1999
By
This review is from: Sadopaideia (Paperback)
I found the book to be insightful from both points of view[sadist and masochist]. It was beautifully written. The author must surely know first hand the art it takes to bring one to to such pleasure.I found it to be most stimulating.

This review is from: Sadopaideia (Paperback)
A two volume 250 page victorian tale of the experiences of Cecil Pendergast a young Oxford undergraduate who gets an education in the ways of erotic love at it's best.

The alluring widow, Ms Muriel Harcourt (I've seen this name in many of the best of erotic literature through the years... it must have meant soemthing for the victorians ... ) teaches a willling and sufficiently submissive Cecil where real pleasure can be derived and for more than a fleeting moment. She certainly, and the author does complete justice, treats her encounters like a delicious meal to be enjoyed ...

Although I'm definitely not into S&M this book knows where its should start and stop ... what an absolutely masterfully written piece to accomplish that ....

A MUST HAVE for your library ... Dont let the title fool you it is THE BEST ... loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My first D&S book, December 18, 1999
By
This review is from: Sadopaideia (Paperback)
I first read this in my late teens, (17? or so) and it summed up so much the essence of what I felt that I couldn't help but enjoy it. The period setting (Victorian England) is extensively portrayed and the story continues from one erotic adventure to another, without becomming dull. I now think about the scenes with the 11 & 15 year old girls with shame (being a father) but I sure enjoyed reading them as a teenager. It is after all erotica, and overall is a great story.

The story begins with a young widow 'capturing' (emotionally only, not physically) a young man and showing him the pleasures of the birch. Many Domination and Submission themes are explored, as well as some S&M. Birching is used extensively, as with most Victorian Period pieces. If the above mentioned themes interest you, it's definantly worth buying...
