Saeco recommends this product for descaling of their cappuccino makers. Hardly a surprise since they want you to buy their products. Their instructions warn against using vinegar but they don't say exactly why,and I was also tempted to use CLR but didn't for the same reason. I felt it prudent to follow the directions and bought this overpriced cleaning powder.

I have the Saeco Italiano model. In about 3 months I got a warning symbol on the machine to descale the unit. I followed the directions carefully and ran the cycle to find that a single packet was not enough. Despite this, I used the unit for another 3 months before descaling again, this time using 2 packets or in other-words, ran 2 cleaning cycles back-to-back. It worked.

I have owned Saeco espresso machines for more than five years. The machine has become part of my morning routine. An important maintenance task is Descaling the machine to keep the coffee fresh. Saeco 52400 Dezcal Descaler is the best product for the job. Amazon provided the marketplace to find the best deal on it.

I have an old Saeco easy that I only use with distilled water and do not use a filter. I've not descaled it for over 3 years. Finally the water started to slow down and I bought this descaler. It got a bit better afterward, so I assumed it did the job.

After buying a quality expresso maker, I don't want to toss any old descaling concoction into it. Buying the manufacturer's recommended descaling agent might cost a buck or two more than what the local supermarket has on sale. But this product works. It doesn't hurt my machine. And it doesn't leave any chemical aftertaste. I suppose there might be a coffeeshop that sells Saeco products. But I waste less time and car fuel ordering it online.
