We just got a new Saeco espresso machine in November. It originally came with one filter. Works well, and the water tastes good. I figure a filter every few months is better (especially with chlorinated water)than having to replace the whole machine in two years. There was a much larger Saeco filter that was compatible with our machine, also, but I didn't want half the tank to be taken up by a filter. It's small, practical, and does a good job.
